Sara Evans is a grandmother! The Grand Ole Opry member reveals on social media that her youngest daughter, Audrey, and Audrey’s boyfriend, John Headley, welcomed their first child, John Evans Headley, into the world.
“Meet our grandson!” Evans writes on social media. “We are so blessed! [Audrey and John], we are so thrilled for you and proud of you! I can’t even put this into words! Granny and Grandaddy! We are obsessed! He is the most beautiful baby! Praise God!!!!!!!”
In April, Evans announced that she was going to be a grandmother.
“Words cannot express how excited and happy I am for Audrey and John!” Evans told People at the time. “I am already so in love with my grandchild and can’t wait to meet the little angel! God is so amazing!”

Audrey also shares the good news on social media, revealing that the baby was born on September 29, weighing seven pounds, four ounces.
“I cannot stop crying! Life changing!” Evans comments on the post. “He is the cutest baby ever and I love you so much Audrey and John! Praise God!”
What Sara Evans’ Daughter Audrey Says About Being a Mother
When announcing the news, Audrey said she was eager to become a first-time mother.
“We are beyond joyful and deeply grateful to God for this incredible blessing,” Audrey said. “I am honored to step into motherhood and embrace everything that comes with it. We feel so lucky to have such a tight-knit family who we know will surround us — John, the baby, and me — with endless love and support.”
All About Sara Evans’ Three Children
Audrey, 20, is the youngest of Evans’ three children, whom she shares with her former husband, Craig Shelske. In addition to Audrey, Evans also has a 26-year-old son, Avery, and a daughter, Olivia, who is 22, and already looking forward to being a doting aunt.
“I could not be more excited about the news,” Olivia said when the news was announced. “I’m so happy to have the opportunity to love, spoil, and cherish this baby, my soon-to-be new bestie.”
Sara Evans’ Marriage to Jay Barker
In 2008, Evans married Jay Barker. The couple separated in 2021. In 2022, Barker was charged with aggravated assault, after allegedly trying to run Evans over with his car. She later shared details of the terrifying night on her podcast, Diving in Deep with Sara Evans.
“It really scared me, and it scared all of us, especially my child that was with me,” Sara recalls. “So the friend of ours was driving me. We were getting ready to pull into the driveway, and… [Jay] had a verbal altercation with my child, who had never seen that side of him, ever. And it scared the s— out of her.”
Fortunately, Barker got the help he needed, and the two later reconciled.
“Everybody says that I shouldn’t contact you, but you are still my wife.” Evans remembers Barker texting her, the beginning of their reconciliation.
“A lot of women will judge me and want to judge me,” she concedes. “When he said, ‘But you are still my wife,’ I don’t know. I just melted because I thought, ‘I am still your wife, and we can talk if we want to. We’re both adults.’ So I texted him back and I think I just said something short and sweet like, ‘How are you? I’m on the road,’ and we sort of tiptoed back to each other.”
