Scotty McCreery is opening up about his Seasons Change: Platinum Edition album, which is out now. McCreery recalls, in a video shared on social media, the events that led up to Seasons Change, and why it remains such a pivotal part of his career.
When McCreery began creating what became Seasons Change, he had lost his record deal with Mercury Nashville, after his last single, “Southern Belle,” failed to chart at radio. McCreery had already written “Five More Minutes,” and expected the label would release that song next. Instead, McCreery found himself a few years removed from American Idol, and unsure if he even had a career in country music.
“Seven years ago, I was coming off what felt like a dark winter season,” McCreery recalls. “After some time away, we’d begun to have some success with ‘Five More Minutes,’ but I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next. Still, I had faith that the seasons would change, and I put that faith into the title song, which I wrote with James McNailr and Tommy Cecil, and it became the theme of this album.
“I’ve heard from so many of you that this song has kept you going when you’ve had dark days, and that means everything to me,” he continues. “I am filled with gratitude for the success of this album through the years. It truly, truly changed my world. I’m glad we could add the four acoustic tracks to this Platinum Edition, to make it extra special, and I hope you all enjoy.”

When announcing Seasons Change: Platinum Edition, McCreery reflected on the monumental changes that took place in him and his career with the release of Seasons Change.
“The Seasons Change album was truly life-changing for me,” McCreery said. “After experiencing both some career highs and lows, I was starting over. For the first time, I co-wrote all the songs and felt like the project was truly me. It has been both gratifying and confidence-building to see how the fans, radio and streaming have embraced the music from this album and me. I’m a guy who loves to look back, and I celebrate the release of this new expanded edition and all the accomplishments we’ve made since the original album came out, while also looking ahead to making new dreams come true.”
The four bonus acoustic track are “In Between,” “Five More Minutes,” “This Is It” and “Still.” McCreery is back with another hit single at radio. The North Carolina native has a Top 20 hit with “Bottle Rockets,” a collaboration with Hootie & the Blowfish.
