Scotty McCreery and his wife Gabi are already proud parents to son Avery, who turns three in October. The couple are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their second child, also a boy, although Avery already knows what he wants to name his baby brother.
“Being from the Carolinas, we love our Bojangles,” McCreery tells CMT. “And he got locked in on a name called Bo Berry McCreery. And that’s what he wants his little brother to be named. And it’s like, we’re trying to tell him, ‘Buddy, I don’t think that’s gonna happen.’ And he’s like, ‘No! I want Bo Berry.’ We’ll see if he’s a little disappointed once he finds out the real name, but it’s been fun.”

Scotty and Gabi McCreery’s New Baby
In May, the Grand Ole Opry member announced that they were adding to their family.
“A new best friend coming this fall,” McCreery captioned a photo of the three of them. McCreery will be home for his new son’s arrival, hitting the road this fall with Dustin Lynch, on their co-headlining Two For The Road Tour.
Hopefully, McCreery will be able to be joined by his wife and sons, since he loves traveling with them.
“I got a little crib in the bus, and they get to travel around,” McCreery reveals. “If the show doesn’t start too late, Avery’s side stage, watching. We’ve had beach days together, we’ve had mountain trips where he’s crossed the bridge … We do a lot of stuff as a family. Just watching him grow up and realize what we do, it’s pretty cool.”
Scotty McCreery’s Current “Bottle Rockets” Single With Hootie & the Blowfish
McCreery just released the video for “Bottle Rockets,” his current single with Hootie & the Blowfish. The song, already in the Top 5, is from McCreery’s latest Scotoer & Friends EP, released in July.
“Hanging out on the beach with Hootie & The Blowfish, one of my favorite bands of all time, and filming the video for ‘Bottle Rockets’ was just a perfect day for me,” McCreery says of the video. “Darius, Mark [Bryan], Dean [Felber], and [Jim Sonefeld] are not only talented, but just great guys. I’ve been so excited at all that success that ‘Bottle Rockets’ has had so far, and I’m glad we were able to get together and create this video for everyone.”
The song was written while McCreery was on a writers retreat.
“We had a lot of songs started going into that retreat, but this song came out of a conversation,” McCreery recalls on Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “This was us reminiscing on previous summers, like ‘I remember my last summer of no job, no responsibilities and school was out. That was such a fun summer.’
“And for me in the Carolinas, and I think for everybody worldwide, Hootie & the Blowfish were huge,” he continues. “It was just talking about those soundtracks of summer. I forget who played into it first, but the chords were kind of matching, and we were like, ‘Man, that’s kind of cool,’ so we just ran with it.”
McCreery’s next concert date is on November 6, with Lynch. Find all of his music and upcoming shows at ScottyMcCreery.com.
