Scotty McCreery Speaks Out After Selling Out Shows on UK Tour

Scotty McCreery‘s headlining UK tour has come to an end, and what a tour it was for him. McCreery is speaking out after selling out several shows on the tour, praising the audiences for their deep love of country music.

“The UK audiences are amazing,” McCreery boasts. “They know the words to every song and sing along passionately. We’ve been to the UK several times now, and each time we come we play a venue that is larger than the last trip and add additional cities. It’s gratifying to see the audiences growing every time we come. I can’t wait to come back again!”

The tour wrapped before McCreery performed at Nissan Stadium last week, as part of CMA Fest. McCreery kept the entire audience captivated with his songs, including his performance of “Five More Minutes,” his first No. 1 single.

McCreery has plenty more to look forward to this year. He has a Top 30 hit with “Bottle Rockets,” a song he sings with Hootie & the Blowfish. The song was written while McCreery was on a writing retreat with several other songwriters, likely penning songs for his next album.

“We had a lot of songs started going into that retreat, but this song came out of a conversation,” McCreery says on Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “I. “This was us reminiscing on previous summers, like ‘I remember my last summer of no job, no responsibilities and school was out. That was such a fun summer.’ And for me in the Carolinas, and I think for everybody worldwide, Hootie & the Blowfish were huge. It was just talking about those soundtracks of summer. I forget who played into it first, but the chords were kind of matching, and we were like, ‘Man, that’s kind of cool,’ so we just ran with it.”

McCreery and his wife Gabi are also expecting their second child this fall, who will be joined by big brother, Avery.

“It’s the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me for sure,” McCreery tells Us Weekly, speaking of becoming a father. “[Avery’s] already two and a half and running around and he’s talking a mile a minute. It’s just so fun watching him grow. Having two is gonna be insane. … The coolest, best thing I’ve ever done is being a dad.”

The 31-year-old will release Seasons Change: Platinum Edition on June 20. The record is his way of thanking his fans, many whom have been with him since his time on American Idol.

“I think it was somebody on my team who said, ‘Hey, Seasons Change is coming up on being platinum,’” McCreery recalls on Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen, sharing the inspiration behind the record. “It just kind of went from there. I made this record at a time when I had no clue if my songs were ever going to be on the radio, or being streamed again, if anybody would care. I didn’t have a label deal when I was writing a lot of these songs.

“So it was a big deal for me to get this out there for people to relate to these songs,” he continues. “To take them into their lives, and use ‘Five More Minutes’ as they’re moving on from high school or college, or losing a loved one, or ‘This Is It’ as they’re walking down the aisle. So for me, it changed my life. And to know that it touched people, and they felt it too, it’s something that we just wanted to give them back to, and say thank you to them.”
