Scotty McCreery is teasing a brand-new song,” Swim Up Bar.” As his “Bottle Rockets” collaboration with Hootie & the Blowfish is already in the Top 15, McCreery is sharing clips from the feel-good track.
“Me and my boss had a parting of ways,” McCreery sings. “Just a small disagreement on what I didn’t get paid / So I’m making the most of what I have saved / A little goes a long way down here.”
In the second clip, McCreery sings about a “waterproof credit card” with some “cute bartenders.”

“Swim Up Bar” is form McCreery’s forthcoming Scootier & Friends EP, out on Friday, July 18. The five-track project includes “Bottle Rockets,” plus “Once Upon a Bottle of Wine,” with the legendary Charlie Wilson, “Whiskey Said” with Lee Brice, and “Holding Down the Honky Tonk.”
“Back home everyone calls me ‘Scooter,’ so since I’m singing with a few of my favorite artists, I decided to call this project Scooter & Friends,” McCreery explains. “It’s a fun collection of songs that are a little different from what I normally sing, yet they are still me. If the fans like it, maybe there will be a second volume in a few years.”
The new song and EP come during a particularly devastating time for McCreery, who is mourning the loss of both of his grandmothers.
“My heart is absolutely broken,” McCreery shared on social media last week. “Yesterday, both my Grandma Janet and my Grandma Paquita passed away. I think I am still in a bit of shock as I type this, but I’m choosing to remember the great memories we all made with both of them.
“There really are too many to count,” he continued. “From being on the farm in Elizabeth City or visiting the Outer Banks with Grandma Janet.. And then the incredible memories we made at the backyard pool in Pinehurst, all the way to visiting Puerto Rico with Grandma Paquita. Both of them truly taught me what love is all about. I will miss them dearly. If y’all could keep my family in your prayers I’d appreciate it.”

McCreery and his wife Gabi are also expanding their family this fall. The couple announced in May that they are expecting their second child, joining their two-year-old son, Avery.
The American Idol alum is looking forward to having both children on the road with him later this year, when he co-headlines the Two For The Road Tour with Dustin Lynch, which begins in November.
“The bus is baby-proofed,” McCreery tells American Songwriter. “There’s a zip-up bunk crib kind of thing on there and stuffed animals. Whatever you need for the babies, it’s already on there. Just as soon as mama bear feels comfortable bringing the little one out, I think is when that will happen.”
McCreery also just launched his new monthly series, Prime Country with Scotty McCreery on SiriusXM. Pre-save Scooter & Friends here. Find all of McCreery’s music and upcoming shows at ScottyMcCreery.com.
