The Malpass Brothers are having unprecedented success in their career, with no signs of slowing down. Made up of siblings Chris and Taylor Malpass, the two are still touring, still making music, and ready to start filming the third season of their hit TV show, The Malpass Brothers Show, airing on RFD-TV.
“It’s done really good for us, and we hope people are enjoying it,” Chris tells Everything Nash. “We’re having a good time doing it. We have a lot of cool guests on there. We have Randy Travis coming up this Saturday night. We’ve had Lorrie Morgan, Gene Watson, Moe Bandy. All of our heroes have been on there, so it’s been a lot of fun.”
For Chris and Taylor, who started touring in and around their home state of North Carolina as teenagers, they never imagined that their success would result in a popular TV show.
“I didn’t even think they would put us on there at all,” Chris says. “It was a dream we both had. But to get to have your own TV show, and have people that you look up to and admire, it’s really been a dream come true.”
The show comes as The Malpass Brothers are celebrating an astonishing 20 years of touring. It’s a feat that barely seemed possible when they were just getting started.
“We’ve been doing it since we were kids, and so it’s crazy that it’s been that long,” Chris acknowledges.
Not only are they still having success, but their success is continuing to grow. Their venues are getting larger, the audiences are getting bigger, and their fan base is expanding. The brothers attribute it not just to their talent and hard work, but to a refreshing new wave in country music.
“We’re starting to see more and more younger people in our audiences,” Chris reflects. “They’re kind of catching on to traditional country. You’ve got a lot of artists – Jake Worthington, Zach Top – that are hot right now. And I think the younger crowds are picking up on the traditional music that maybe weren’t as many a few years ago. It seems like it’s really coming full-circle.”
The Malpass Brothers have remained true to who they are since the very beginning, both with their music and their attire, wearing attention-getting, impressive suits every time they take the stage.
“We feel like it’s important when you go on stage to look like an entertainer, and show respect to the crowd,” Chris says. “So it’s just kind of part of our deal. We feel like it’s a must.”

The Malpass Brothers also have stuck to the traditional sounding country music that they grew up on, and still love today. For Chris and Taylor, it’s the only way they know to make music.
“If we couldn’t do what we love, which is this, we wouldn’t do it,” Taylor says. “If somebody said, ‘I’ll pay you double what you’re making now, if you’ll change what you do, I’m not going to do it.”
“If you look at a lot of the great artists, like Merle and Ernest Tubb and all those people, their career might not have been huge every point of their career, but it sustained their career, and they had a fanbase that was loyal all those years,” adds Chris. “And I think it was because they didn’t waver a lot. I think if you’ll be true to what you love, and not change the times, people, they’ll be loyal.”
The Malpass Brothers have an exciting new project on the horizon, a Christian record, embracing their shared strong Christian faith. The two will be in the studio in the beginning of July, with plans of releasing the project by the end of the year.
“We’re getting ready to do a Gaither project,” Chris reveals. “We’re super excited about it … We’re gonna be recording that at the end of the month, first part of July, so I’m really excited. We’re gonna be doing an all-gospel project, which is where we started. We started in churches years ago. And it’s got some original music on it as well. So I’m excited.”
“There’s going to be ‘He Touched Me,’ ‘Because He Lives,’ and then ‘Family Bible’ that was written by Willie [Nelson],” he adds. A lot of Louvin Brothers’ gospel. A Merle Haggard gospel. The Happy Goodmans. So we’re super excited.”
The Malpass Brothers are returning to the Grand Ole Opry on July 5. For a duo who have already crossed a lot off of their bucket list, they still have one big dream: becoming Grand Ole Opry members.
That’s our biggest dream, to be Opry members, as everybody,” Chris says. “But that’s the epitome of what we love.”
The Malpass Brothers are also returning once again to be part of the Country Music Cruise, part of an all-star lineup that includes Josh Turner, Patty Loveless, Neal McCoy, Randy Owen, Wade Hayes, Shenandoah, T. Graham Brown, and many more.
“It is a lot of fun. I have a big time on the Country Music Cruise,” Chris says. “There’s a lot of people on there I want to see.”
“It’s amazing how many great artists they have on one ship,” Taylor adds.
