Todd Tilghman is joining a popular gospel group. The Season 18 winner of The Voice announces he is joining the group TrueSong, which already includes Jay Arview and Dusty Barrett, along with Zach Loyd, the group’s production manager.
In addition to touring, TrueSong is also the resident artist for the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.
“I love Jay, Dusty, and Zach,” Tilghman says in a press release. “They’ve been friends for a couple years now. In addition to being really excited for all the things coming up with my solo artist work, touring, recording, and building a songwriting career, I’m excited to work with friends making music. Being part of TrueSong and the Answers in Genesis family is an honor, and I feel like the potential for TrueSong is unlimited.”
“We are truly honored and grateful to welcome Todd Tilghman to the TrueSong team,” adds Arview. “What seemed unlikely has become a reality — an example of how God often works in ways beyond our expectations, turning the impossible into the possible. Todd brings not only remarkable talent as a singer and songwriter but also a heart for people that reflects the love of Christ. His addition is a tremendous blessing to both TrueSong and the broader ministry of Answers in Genesis. We eagerly anticipate what God has in store for the future through this incredible team!”
TrueSong is on New Day Records, part of Daywind Music Group.
“We are so excited for both TrueSong and Todd,” Ed Leonard, President, Daywind Music Group, says. “It is a great artistic and ministry fit that will take TrueSong to the next level. We look forward to the great songs that will be created and the souls that they will reach for Christ.”
Tilghman auditioned for The Voice while he was still pastoring a church in Mississippi. When the father of eight tried out, he never imagined he would make it onto the show, much less be crowned the winner.
“Frankly, between me and my wife — our kids didn’t really know a lot of that conversation had taken place before I even dreamed of auditioning for The Voice — we knew that ministry, traditional ministry, was wrapping up for us,” Tilghman recalls to Everything Nash. “I knew, but I’m not a one-man show. I have a wife and kids.”
Tilghman might have realized he was not going to be pastoring for much longer, but he never could have predicted that it would come to an end because he would win The Voice.
“I guess I just never thought that it would happen this way,” Tilghman concedes. “I literally looked into all kinds of things. I was thinking about being a real estate agent. I was seeing what it would take to do that. I reached out on my social media one time and asked people what I had to do to become a barber. I like talking to people, and you get to do that when you’re cutting hair.”
Tilghman also has several solo dates on the calendar. Find all of his music and upcoming shows at ToddTOfficial.com. All of TrueSong’s music and future appearances are available here.
