Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins Think Their 5th Child Is a Boy

Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins are still awaiting the arrival of their fifth child. Already parents to four girls, Rhett and Akins opted not to find out the gender of their fifth, and likely final, addition to their family, although Akins says all signs are pointing to the couple finally having a son.

“Consistently, across the board, everybody I know, and even strangers, are like, ‘It is a boy,’” Akins says on the That Sounds Fun podcast.

Akins goes on to say that numerous people have also had dreams about her pregnancy, all believing she is having a boy.

“I need to go back and count. I think it’s 14 people have had dreams that I’m having a boy,” Akins says. “A couple of them were children. Willa Gray was one of the first. And the other one was one of our really good friends’ little girl. She came out of her room, and she was like, ‘Daddy, I think Miss Lauren’s gonna have a baby. And she’s gonna have a boy.’ He was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ She was like, ‘I had a dream. Lauren’s having a baby, and it’s going to be a boy.’ And then one of my brother-in-law’s really good friends, his mother, who I never met before, had a dream.”

Why Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins Aren’t Finding Out the Gender Of Their 5th Child

Rhett and Akins adopted their oldest daughter, Willa Gray. They also found out ahead of time that they were having three more girls, with Ada James, Lennon Love, and Lillie Carolina. But with this pregnancy, both Rhett and Akins decided to let it be a surprise.

“I was kind of against it at first because I’m such a planner in life,” Rhett says on SiriusXM‘s The Highway. “I really wanted to know. If it’s a girl, it’s like, ‘Oh, okay. I know how to do that.’ But if it’s a boy, I need to start stocking up on my books. I need to start learning how to raise a boy.

“But I think it is one of the very few surprises left in life,” he continues. “You can find anything out in the world. And so, we’re gonna give the card to one of our friends, so we have one friend in life that knows what the gender is, so that if it is a boy, we can have boy things. But yeah, I’m jacked.”

Like his wife, Rhett says he believes he is going to have a son.

“I think it’s a boy,” Rhett adds. “I have a gut feeling that it’s a boy. I do. But we’d be thrilled either way.”

Chances are, this will also be the couple’s last child.

“I mean, five has kind of always been our number,” Rhett tells Taste of Country Nights. “Anything above five, we will have to get a Sprinter van.”
