Tim McGraw Reveals Faith Hill Had Multiple Surgeries in Recent Years

Tim McGraw is opening up about the physical struggles both he and his wife, Faith Hill, have endured. McGraw has been open about his recent surgeries, but he now reveals that Hill has also had her own share of health challenges as well.

“I’ve had four back surgeries, and double knee replacements, just in the last couple of years,” McGraw shares from stage during a recent California show (via Fox News). “I say that because the doctor who did my double knee replacement is here tonight.”

“And my wife has been going through quite a bit of surgeries. She’s had five neck surgeries, and she’s had a couple of hand surgeries,” he continues, revealing that her surgeon was also in the audience.

Tim McGraw Opens Up About His Own Health Struggles

McGraw now admits that he wondered if his career was over, before having his final back surgery.

“After going through all of that for a couple of years, and getting depressed over it … stuff not working right, this spring, before I had my final back surgery, things were getting really bad,” McGraw recalls, “So I was seriously contemplating and figuring out how to walk away. I didn’t want to, but I didn’t think it was going to get better. But it’s gotten better.”

It was while he was recovering at home that he had the idea for “King Rodeo.” The father of three debuted the song at the inaugural Music City Rodeo, held this spring in Nashville.

“During that process, I had this idea for this song that sort of dealt with facing age and facing all that stuff that comes along with it,” McGraw recalls. “So I called a good friend of mine, Tom Douglas, and we sat down, and we wrote a song.”

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s Marriage

McGraw and Hill just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary, which the “Paper Umbrellas” singer honored with a sweet social media post in tribute to his wife.

“29 years ago, on this day Oct 6 1996, I was on cloud 9!” McGraw writes. “I was marrying the girl of my dreams, she was everything, my complete soulmate! We have been through so much together, our girls growing up, me trying to grow up, and you, you, you, always there, always there for all of us when we fell, always you when we triumphed, always you. When we love, when we live, when we think of how to love, live and dream, always you. You are my girl. I love you with a fire that grows each passing year.”

For McGraw, the secret to their successful marriage is really not much of a secret at all.

“I am not an expert,” McGraw tells his record label. “I don’t think anybody is. Marriage is — any relationship’s tough if you don’t cultivate it, and certainly if you’re not committed to it. Love and respect are always important, but I think that knowing that there’s gonna be tough times and knowing there’s gonna be times where you don’t like each other as much, all those things are gonna happen.
