Age is nothing but a number, at least to Tim McGraw. The 58-year-old is still making music, and plans to continue for a long, long time.
“Music, it’s part of my soul,” McGraw says. “It’s oxygen to me in a lot of ways. I love being in the studio creating music. I love playing live. You know, I feel like I’m getting better as I get older, hitting my stride. I’m always listening to songs and always writing songs. It’s just part of who I am, part of what I do.”
Not only does McGraw not let his age define him, but he still wants to better himself, even after more than 30 years in country music.
“I just try to be better today,” McGraw says. “Do the next best thing to be a better person than you were yesterday, and work harder today than you did yesterday. And try to move forward, and try to learn. In this business or in life, I think when you stop paying attention and stop learning, then you stop moving forward.
“That’s why, when I’m on tour,” he adds, “I always go out and catch the opening acts, ’cause you never know where you’re gonna learn something. And you always gotta learn.”

Tim McGraw Still Has A Lot to Learn as a Performer
McGraw wants to keep performing, but he also wants to continue to try new things, and expand what he is capable of accomplishing.
“I like being busy. I like working,” McGraw reflects. “Gosh, I feel like I’m just hitting my stride. I feel like I got a lot of work to do, and a lot of things to do. And I just love what I’m doing. I feel like I’m in a good spot. I feel like I’m getting better at my craft, and I just love making music and love being in studio recording. I never take it for granted. I’ve been very fortunate. My career has outdone all of my expectations. It’s more than I could ever hope for.”
McGraw alo wants to continue acting, especially if he can do it with his wife, Faith Hill, as they did in 1883.
“Our experience on 1883, getting to work with my wife for six months and working 14 hours a day on horseback, six days a week, and freezing cold or burning hot weather, that was probably a real highlight,” McGraw recounts. “Especially on our 25th anniversary at 3:00 in the morning, crossing a river that was 36 degrees. That was fun.”
McGraw recently released “King Rodeo,” a song he wrote with Tom Douglas. He is reportedly working on a new record.
