The first round of performers for the upcoming 2023 ACM Awards has been announced! Keith Urban, Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson are among the list of performers, along with Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Jo Dee Messina, Cole Swindell, Morgan Wallen, The War and Treaty and Bailey Zimmerman.
Dolly Parton, who is hosting the live ceremony alongside Garth Brooks, will also debut her new rock song, “World on Fire,” during the live broadcast.
“At the end of the show, I am going to debut the first single off of my rock album,” Parton, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, revealed on Good Morning America. “The rock album is called Rock Star, and we’ve got a lot of wonderful, great celebrities, a lot of the older, rock artists, in addition to all these iconic, wonderful songs.”
“Liar, liar, the world’s on fire, whatcha gonna do when it all burns down,” she continued, sharing some of the song’s lyrics. “So, it’s really kind of about the times. and how we can do a little better if we try to try to heal the divide and just get along a little better. And so, it’s really got a great message to it, but it’s also good and solid, kind of like a rock anthem.”
Wilson has the most ACM Awards nominations of any female artist, with six, trailing only HARDY, with seven.
“I am so honored to be nominated among some of the best in the business. A few years ago, I wouldn’t even have been able to dream of a day like this,” Wilson said when the news was announced. “Thank you to the Academy of Country Music for believing in me and my work, this is an absolute honor.”
The 2023 ACM Awards marks the first time Brooks has ever hosted an awards show, an invitation he was honored to accept, especially since it was with Parton.
“When you think about my career, I don’t want to pick favorites, but some of our biggest nights have been at the ACMs,” Brooks told Billboard.“The fact that they would even ask is flattering, and the fact that I get to host with Ms. Parton is unbelievable. The surprise of the night is you’re gonna see this beautiful woman carry this 260-pound ass all night.”
More performers, as well as presenters, are expected to be announced in the near future. The 2023 ACM Awards will take place on Thursday, May 11 at 8:00 PM ET, streaming live on Amazon Prime Video, from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
