Ella Langley has hit a new career milestone. The 26-year-old has her first No. 1 single as a solo artist, with “Weren’t For the Wind.” The song is from Langely’s Still Hungover album, the deluxe version of Hungover, her freshman record.
“‘Weren’t For the Wind’ is #1 on country radio baby!!!!!” Langley writes on social media. “So proud of this song. everything that it’s done and continues to do. Thank y’all for loving this song. Also, thank you to Joybeth Taylor and Johnny Clawson for helping me write it. Thank you to my team for everything they’ve done to help get it there. Thanks to Will Bundy for producing it. So grateful today. God is good.”
In a separate social media post, Langley praises Taylor for her belief in Langley, since the beginning of her country music career.

“Sentimental post incoming… ” Langley writes. “There’s no telling how many hours me and Joybeth Taylor have put into having this moment together. Since that day on my back porch (the day we wrote our first song), we’ve dreamt about getting a #1 together. Sure, there have been many days that it seemed pretty much impossible, but we always believed. Always. I’ve never seen someone so dedicated to the craft of songwriting the way Joybeth is. It inspires me daily. Day in and day out I’ve watched her work her tail off. Writing damn near 300 songs a year if not more (probably more lol).
“There’s no one more deserving than you JBT,” she continues. “If you love my music, you also love Joybeth. I wouldn’t be the same without my sister in song and my favorite/best writing buddy. Sitting a on plane flying back to Nashville with tears rolling out of my eyes thinking about how much we’ve talked about this moment and what it means to actually have it together. We did it JB.”
Langley just dropped a new song, “Never Met Anyone Like You,” a collaboration with HARDY. The song is from Langley’s next album.
“This next record I’m going to put out is very much a concept piece,” Langley reveals on Country Countdown USA. “It’s different than what I’ve done, but it’s still me. I can’t wait to talk about it, but I can’t right now. There are so many layers to this. It’s not going to come out til next year. We may put out a single before then. It’s the coolest thing I’ve gotten to do. I’m co-producing the whole thing. I’m so excited.”
“Weren’t For the Wind” follows “You Look Like You Love Me,” her collaboration with Riley Green. The Alabama native will have to do much of the work on her next record on the road. She is headlining many of her own shows, plus joining Green on tour, as well as opening some shows for Morgan Wallen on his I’m The Problem Tour.
