Luke Bryan is fortunately back to health. After missing several shows on his Country Song Came On Tour, due to vocal issues and illness, Bryan reveals he is ready to start performing again.
“I wanted to thank everybody for all the well wishes, for the last few shows that I had to postpone and obviously cancel,” Bryan says in a video shared on social media. “I want to thank my buddy Eric Church for stepping in, and helping out with me. It really, really gets frustrating getting sick like that, and losing my voice, and having to take a couple of weekends off. But thank you guys for supporting me. I love y’all, and we’ll see you all in the shows to come.”
The issues started when Bryan was performing in Arkansas on June 19. He acknowledged his voice wasn’t the best, giving fans a full refund while still performing. Bryan then canceled the following weekend’s shows to focus on his healing, hoping he would be better by the following weekend.
Unfortunately that wasn’t the case, and Bryan had to miss more shows, with Church filling in for three festival dates.
“I’m really sorry to say I won’t be able to play this weekend’s shows due to continued illness,” Bryan writes on social media. “I’ve been hoping to rally, but my voice is just not there yet. Huge thanks to my buddy Eric Church for stepping in last minute — and of course, putting on a kick a– show like he always does. Sitting still is not what I do best so I can’t wait to be back soon. Love y’all.”
Bryan’s Country Song Came On Tour is named after his current hit single, already in the Top 10. The song is from his Mind of a Country Boy album, out last year.
“’Country Song Came On’ is like a honky tonk gem for me,” Bryan says of the uptempo track. “When I heard it, I was like, it brings me back to the days when I was playing a lot of honky tonks early in my career. And the fact that I was able to put ETC, which is a nod to Earl Thomas Conley, one of my favorite artists ever, just makes me smile every time I hear it. And this song will definitely make you want to drink a draft beer.”
Bryan is also working on a new album, even while back on the road.
“I’m on tour right now,” Bryan tells The Tennesseean. “I’m actively writing songs. People always ask me, ‘Are you working on a new album?’ I don’t think I ever stop really working on a new album. I’m always trying to write a little bit and find songs. My current single, ‘Country Song Came On,’ is nearing the Top 10 right now, which I’m excited about. But the bottom line is, get in the studio at some point and record some new music, and just keep doing the deal. Keep enjoying being a country music singer.”
Bryan’s Country Song Came On Tour continues on Thursday, July 10, with a show in Toronto, Ontario. Find all of Bryan’s music and upcoming shows at LukeBryan.com.
