A new song and video is here from Tim McGraw! The father of three just released “King Rodeo,” a live version, which he performed at the Inaugural Music City Rodeo. McGraw wrote the song with Tom Douglas.
“We’ve been working on a new record, and we thought that this song was appropriate for the night,” McGraw shares. The song says in part, “So the spotlight’s faded, you moved a little past your prime / Don’t let ’em make you jaded, ’cause you can’t turn back time / Tomorrow’s like a woman, you can’t understand / Lady Luck’s been good to you ,so take her by the hand / Hey King Rodeo.”
The video shows McGraw performing at the Music City Rodeo, seated on a stool, backed only by a piano. Interspersed in the video is highlights from McGraw’s career, spanning more than 30 years.

Tim McGraw’s Latest Single
McGraw recently released a new version of “Paper Umbrellas,” joined by Parker McCollum.
“That song was on my Standing Room Only album, and we were getting ready to pick a new single,” McGraw explains. “I wanted to bring something off of that album, and there were a couple of choices we had, but I always loved that record, one of my favorite records on the album, and I wanted to freshen it up a little bit because it had been out for a while on the album.”
Tim McGraw’s Last Album
It’s been two years since McGraw released a full-length album, with Standing Room Only, out in 2023. He later released his Poet’s Resumé EP, later that same year. The record featured five new songs, including “One Bad Habit,” his 47th No. 1 hit.
Tim McGraw Recovers From Multiple Surgeries
McGraw spent time away from the road while he recovered from four major surgeries, including on both knees, his neck and back. The 58-year-old performed for the Music City Rodeo, but canceled a subsequent appearance at the Professional Bull Riders’ Last Cowboy Standing Event, due to his ongoing recovery.
“Over the last two years, I’ve had four major surgeries,” McGraw reveals on Audacy. “So it’s been a rough go, but you know, I beat myself up over the years pretty badly.”
“I’m starting to come around,” he continues. “It’s just gonna take a little time, but I’ve done a lot of PT getting to where I can move a little better. There are setbacks. You go a couple of weeks, everything is really good, then you have a couple of weeks everything goes backwards.”
McGraw is returning to performing on August 2 in Bristol, Tennessee, at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Find all of McGraw’s music and upcoming shows at TimMcGraw.com.
