Alexandra Kay Drops Bold New Single, 'Straight For The Heart' [LISTEN]

Alexandra Kay‘s new song is out! The Illinois native just released “Straight For The Heart.” The song is from her new Second Wind album, out on October 24.

Ahead of the song’s release, Kay predicted that the song would be her first No. 1 at country radio.

“If I could share with you guys this song that I truly from my heart believe is going to be my first No. 1 song at country radio,” Kay said while performing the anthemic tune.

The song says in part, “If you pull a trigger aim straight for the heart / If you’re gonna break it, baby, break it bad / Make it so I never want you back / Give me a damn good reason / If you’re leaving, then better leave a scar / Say you never even loved me to begin with / Make me hate you, make me something that I won’t miss / Take it way too far / If you pull that trigger, aim straight for the heart.

Alexandra Kay’s New Album

Second Wind is Kay’s sophomore album, but her first on a major record label. The project is being released on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.

“I’m so ready to share these songs with the people who have been with me every step of the way,” Kay says of Second Wind. “Over the past two years, I’ve done a lot of growing — and over the last year, I’ve had the chance to write about the version of myself that’s emerged from that growth. This album reflects a new side of me, and I can’t wait for my fans to experience it live — especially the happier songs that I’m hoping they’ll be screaming right back at me from the crowd.”

What Alexandra Kay Says About ‘Second Wind’

Kay’s enthusiasm for her new project has been palpable. After releasing All I’ve Ever Known in 2023, Kay is excited to share her new chapter with her fans.

“I came from All I’ve Ever Known, my last album, being just very serious, and a very serious topic about my divorce, and me really digging into my emotions and growing through that,” Kay tells Country Now. “And I was like, ‘Where I’m at right now is I’m so confident, I’m so happy, and I’m just in a very pink and girly and fun place in my life.’ And so I think that was a great representation of that.”

Heartbroken over her split from her former husband when writing All I’ve Ever Known, Kay is now happily dating her band member, Rocko Beall. Beall not only inspired “The Last,” but many of the songs on Second Wind.

“This was a very interesting process because it was the first time that I’ve written a record out of happiness and joy and independence and self-discovery,” Kay shares. “It’s been really, really cool to discover who I am as a songwriter when I’m not writing through heartache. And so I’m very excited for everybody to hear kind of the mix.”

When announcing Second Wind, Kay also revealed she was headlining her own Second Wind: The Tour this fall. Pre-order Second Wind, and find “Straight For The Heart” and all of Kay’s music and upcoming shows at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
