Thomas Rhett is a proud father of four girls. For Rhett, the challenge to balance home and work definitely isn’t getting easier as his daughters get older.
“Obviously, [I’ve] been blessed with an amazing family, blessed with being able to play shows and make music,” Rhett reflects. “But I think as my kids get older, it does become more challenging to do as much as I used to. I still try to keep up on social media, but at the same time, I do feel like when I am on social media a lot, then I’m neglecting something else. And my kids will always take precedence over that stuff.
“But at the same time,” he adds, “my wife and my kids know that this is what I love and what I was born to do, and so I think it’s just more about balancing the time now than it is just doing it all the time.”
How Thomas Rhett Balances Work And Family Life
One way Rhett manages to balance work and his family life is to schedule everything in advance, something he didn’t do in the past.
“In February, I’m going to write three days a week for the whole month, and then maybe in March I might just write once or twice,” Rhett reveals. “It’s just, you gotta plan stuff out way in advance now, whereas used to, I’d be like, ‘I think I’m gonna write a song today with so-and-so.’ But I want to make sure that as my kids get older, they know that they were always chosen first over career, over whatever. That’s just the kind of dad that I want to be known for by them, for sure.”

All About Thomas Rhett’s Kids
Willa Gray, Rhett’s oldest, is nine years old. She was born on November 1, 2015 in Uganda, Rhett and Akins adopted Willa in 2017, shortly before Akins gave birth to Ada James, who was born on August 12, 2017. On February 10, 2020, the couple’s third daughter, Lennon Love, was born, followed by their youngest, Lillie Carolina, who was born on November 15, 2021.
Rhett loves having a big family, even if it isn’t exactly what he expected.
“If I’m being honest with you, Willa Gray and Lennon were the only two that were planned,” Rhett shares with BMLG. “Now, I do not believe in accidents. I do believe everything happens for a reason.”
Does Thomas Rhett Want More Children
Rhett and Akins may or may not be done having children.
“If we stopped having kids now, I know I’d wake up at 45 and go, ‘We should have had five more,’” Rhett previously said. “Because I really do want to be able to sit at a Thanksgiving or Christmas table with the most gigantic family on the planet.”
