Lady A brought the holiday spirit to CMA Country Christmas. The trio, made up of Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood, sang both “Glory to God” and “Wouldn’t Be Christmas,” the latter an original song on their recent On This Winter’s Night (Volume 2) album, released earlier this year. The record is a follow-up to the original On This Winter’s Night, out in 2012.

“Having some new material to get out there – we did our first Christmas record 13 years ago,” Kelley says. “So we’re going out on our first Christmas tour, so we felt like it was time to freshen up our album.”

The CMA Country Christmas performance comes as Lady A is getting ready to embark on their This Winter’s Night Tour, which kicks off on December 5 in Atlanta, Georgia.

“I think the thing I’m looking forward to the most about the Christmas tour is just connection,” Kelley says. “It’s such a magical time of year. And even at our shows, I think one of my favorite compliments we get is, it’s a show that my grandmother could come to, I can come to, and my kid can come to. And that’s what we want. The whole generation of different families being able to come together.”

CMA Country Christmas also includes performances by Little Big Town, Riley GreenParker McCollumMegan Moroney, BeBe Winans, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band,  Susan Tedeschi, and Derek Trucks, plus Jordan Davis and Lauren Daigle, who also hosted the show. Lady A Expands Their Families

Scott and Kelley also have new additions to their family. Scott and her husband Chris Tyrrell welcomed their fourth daughter, Selah Jean, into the world in July, while Kelley and his wife, Cassie, welcomed their second son, Archer, in September.

“This will be the first Christmas with our fourth daughter, Selah. She’ll be five months old on Christmas Day,” Scott says. “And then little Archer.”

“It’s gonna make it pretty special,” adds Kelley.

What Lady A Says About Their ‘On This Winter’s Night (Volume 2)’ Album

On This Winter’s Night (Volume 2) is Lady A’s second holiday album, but their first time to tour in support of a Christmas project, making the record even more meaningful for them.

“We’re really excited about being on the road in December for our first Christmas tour,” Haywood shares. “And that definitely calls for some new music too. This album is filled with so much joy and gratitude – I hope it reaches fans this season the way we feel it ourselves.”
