Lainey Wilson Praises Her Fiancé, Devlin 'Duck' Hodges: 'He Makes Me Want To Be a Better Person'

Lainey Wilson is so grateful for her fiancé, Devlin “Duck” Hodges. Together since 2021, the two are planning to get married sometime this year. But wedding bells or not, she has found true love with the former professional football player.

“He makes me want to be a better person,” Wilson boasts to People. “We’re a good team.”

Indeed, when the two began dating, success in country music had mostly eluded Wilson, who was actually quite broke on their first date. As her career began to climb, Wilson kept her private life private, not introducing him to the world for two years, until 2023.

“[He] loves Lainey way more than Lainey Wilson,” the Grand Ole Opry member asserts. “He understands what it means to really work hard for something that you’ve always dreamed about.”

Now, the “Can’t Sit Still” singer can afford to go anywhere she wants. But when she is off the road, her favorite place to be is at home with Hodges, “hanging with our dogs, drinking an old-fashioned.”

“He can cook the best steak in Nashville,” Wilson adds. “He’s just that place that I get to come home to and fill my cup back up.”

What Lainey Wilson Says About Her Wedding to Devlin “Duck” Hodges

Wilson and Hodges dated for four years before he popped the question in early 2025. Now deep in the throes of planning, the 33-year-old knows what she wants for her big day.

“Well, first of all, I just want it to be about what it’s supposed to be about,” Wilson tells People. “I want my family to be there, like my closest family, like my mama and daddy, sister and her kids. I want good music, good food.”

As for the menu, Wilson hints it will give a nod to her deep love of her home state.

“Well, I’m from Louisiana, so maybe a little bit of like a Cajun flare. My fiancé likes a good steak. So it might just be a mixture,” Wilson hints.

Regardless of how their wedding unfolds, Wilson has no doubt that she wants to spend the rest of her life with Hodges.

“He’s such a good dude,” Wilson tells Us Weekly.  “He is my best friend. He’s my biggest cheerleader. We lift each other up. He understands that this life is full of a lot of late nights and travel, and we might be ships passing in the night, but he’s always my rock through it all. He’s my home, no matter where we are. I feel like my blood pressure comes down, and he’s a safe place to land. I can just let loose.”
