Luke Combs was just included on Time100’s list of the 100 most influential people right now, part of an incredible roster of names that also includes Ben Stiller, Noah Kahan, Kate Hudson, Mark Kelly, and more.
Combs was honored by fellow singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who wrote a touching tribute to his good friend.
“I first met Luke Combs in 2018, when I was living in Nashville,” Sheeran begins. “I’d heard his song ‘When It Rains It Pours’ while on holiday with my school-mates, and it quickly became our soundtrack. As soon as I met Luke, I knew he was a good bloke, with talent just spilling out of him.
“Over the years, I’ve watched him move from album to album and tour to tour, constantly evolving—not just as an artist, but also as a human, and always for the better,” Sheeran continues. “He’s scaled the highest heights of music while remaining loving and kind to those around him. People might call that ‘normal,’ but there’s nothing normal about what Luke has achieved.”
Sheeran, an incredibly talented musician in his own right, concludes by acknowledging not only Combs’ musical gifts, but also highlighting who he is away from the stage as well.
“He’s an incredible writer, singer, and performer,” Sheeran concludes. “I love his commitment to his family and how that reflects in his music. My favorite album of his is Fathers & Sons—it’s a perfect snapshot for any parent of how life is in the moment. I’m looking forward to whatever is next, because really, it can be anything.”

Luke Combs Releases Latest Album, ‘The Way I Am’
Combs just released his sixth studio album, The Way I Am. The 22-track record includes his two current Top 5 singles, “Sleepless In A Hotel Room” and “Days Like These.”
“I’m really proud of this record,” Combs says. “I really, really am. I’m proud of my whole team for working on this. It’s been a long process getting this thing going.”
Combs has come a long way since freshman This One’s For You record came out in 2017. As his career has grown and evolved, so has Combs – and so has his fans.
“Your first really successful album is the easiest one to ever write,” the father of three tells Time. “Because it’s like, Oh, well, I just wrote all the stuff that I can relate to, that’s personal to me, and other people relate to it. After you’ve done that two or three times, it’s like, what happens now? So you have to kind of grow up with your fan base a little bit too.”
Combs is currently headlining his My Kinda Saturdday Night Tour, with an impressive list of opening acts throughout the tour, including Dierks Bentley and Thomas Rhett.
