Luke Combs has three kids, all boys, three and under. Combs and his wife, Nicole, have a son Tex, who will turn four in June, two-year-old Beau, and Chet, who was born in February. While the couple is adjusting to having three young boys, the singer admits that Beau is understandably having trouble adjusting to not being the baby in the family anymore.
“You can’t really reason with him,” Combs tells Time. “He’s just not old enough to really respond to much other than like, ‘Hey man, if you want to lay there and cry on the floor, then that’s up to you.’”
Combs is determined to be a hands-on dad as much as possible, in spite of his sometimes busy touring schedule. But when he is home, he is fully focused on being the best father he can possibly be.
“I get sneezed on or thrown up on like every day,” Combs say, adding that time at home is always his first priority. “You catch me Monday through Friday, I’m at the house, Mr. Mom, changing dipes, giving baths, cooking dinner.
“Our life is complicated,” he remarks, “but oddly simple at the same time.”

Luke Combs Wants His Children to Have a Normal Childhood
Combs may be a country music superstar, but he is determined that his children will have as normal a childhood as possible.
“I want my kids’ childhood to feel as normal as it can, given the very strange circumstances that it will ultimately become,” Combs shares on the MeatEater podcast (via Country Now). “That’s a choice you have to make. And you lose a lot of things with that in the sense of like, there’s so many cool opportunities that I have that maybe would be really, not really beneficial, but cool experiences or beneficial to my career that I pass on to do that for my kids.”
“It’s not something I’m bragging [about], like ‘I’m such a good dad,’” he adds. “It’s not that. It’s just, I say this all the time, but my kids didn’t ask to be born. It was my choice to bring them into the world. So to me, it’s my duty.”
Luke Combs Is Honored in ‘Time’ Magazine by Ed Sheeran
Combs was recently included in Time magazine’s list of 100 of the most influential people in the world. His good friend, Ed Sheeran, honored Combs in the issue.
“I first met Luke Combs in 2018, when I was living in Nashville,” Sheeran begins. “I’d heard his song ‘When It Rains It Pours’ while on holiday with my school-mates, and it quickly became our soundtrack. As soon as I met Luke, I knew he was a good bloke, with talent just spilling out of him.
“Over the years, I’ve watched him move from album to album and tour to tour, constantly evolving—not just as an artist, but also as a human, and always for the better,” Sheeran continues. “He’s scaled the highest heights of music while remaining loving and kind to those around him. People might call that ‘normal,’ but there’s nothing normal about what Luke has achieved.”
“He’s an incredible writer, singer, and performer,” Sheeran concludes. “I love his commitment to his family and how that reflects in his music. My favorite album of his is Fathers & Sons—it’s a perfect snapshot for any parent of how life is in the moment. I’m looking forward to whatever is next, because really, it can be anything.”
