Brandon Davis has a new album coming out, and this one is a gospel project. Davis just announced the release of All It Took, three original faith-based songs, out on May 29.
“I grew up in a house where music has always been something that we all enjoyed together,” Davis explains on social media. “My uncle played, my cousin played, me and my dad, and my brother, we all sing. Writing songs has been a passion of mine since seventh grade. I grew up in a house where I was listening to country, I was listening to gospel, I was listening to southern rock. Country and gospel always had the biggest influence on me. They influenced my writing. They really helped to showcase the faith that I felt was so needed in the music that was being written.”
What Led Brandon Davis to Start Making Music
In 2019, Davis was in a serious car accident, one that forever changed the trajectory of his life and career. His wife, Destiny, encouraged him to follow his passions and pursue music instead.
“All that has led me down a long journey at this point, 2019 kind of being our starting point with what we told y’all,” Davis says. “But 2019 was not just the start of music, as far as what it is for us. … 2019 was God opening my eyes. God telling me, ‘Hey, look. You have a talent. I gave you a talent to use, and I want to make sure that you have a chance to use that, and show the world. Share it with the world. Be able to share the songs, share the stories. Touch people’s hearts.’ When you’re telling your kids to chase their dreams, and you’re not, how can you push that narrative?”
Davis goes on to reflect on his journey since 2019, and how his faith has played a part in his success.
“It’s because of God that we got here,” the father of six remarks. “It’s because of God that these songs have been written. God allowed us to have these moments of clarity that showed us why this music is so important. … I’m saying all of this because we’re starting a new chapter with this musical journey, with something that we’ve never done before. It’s been very much an all God thing. He has guided me through peaks and valleys and all the in-betweens, both in music and family and this life in general.”
Brandon Davis Announces First Gospel Project
Davis shares that he began to have ideas for specific titles of songs that focused on his faith. The result became All It Took.
“We are officially going to be releasing a gospel EP on May 29, and it is three brand-new original gospel tunes that I wrote myself,” Davis reveals. “And I am so excited for this to happen. We have never released gospel music. It’s incredible to have this ability to make this happen.”
