Scotty McCreery Teases Josh Turner Collaboration

A collaboration with Scotty McCreery and Josh Turner could be happening. McCreery just posted a video, sharing audio of McCreery introducing Turner during a live event.

“Had a special guest in the studio the other day…” McCreery teases in the caption.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the two sang together. McCreery performed a cover of Turner’s 2005 single, “Your Man,” during his American Idol audition. He went on to win Season 10 of American Idol in 2011.

Scotty McCreery Is Inducted by Josh Turner Into the Grand Ole Opry

McCreery has been vocal about his admiration for Turner. It’s also Turner who McCreery chose to induct him into the Grand Ole Opry in 2024.

“I don’t want to speak for Scotty, but I’ll never forget getting the call that ‘A young guy just sang your song on American Idol,’” Turner said during his heartfelt speech inducting McCreery. “I’d learned after the fact that he had actually come to one of my shows a week or two before auditioning for the TV show, and he continued to sing my songs. I then realized that I had really influenced this young man, and I stand here tonight proud of the fact that I bridged the gap between the generation of Randy Travis and Scotty McCreery. Only time will tell who will be inspired by Scotty to do great things in this business.”

Turner became emotional as he praised McCreery, for who he is on and off the stage.

“Scotty’s not only a fine singer and a songwriter, but he’s a great man, great husband and now father,” Turner said. “I’m proud of him. I’m proud to know him, and I’m proud that he’s filling the shoes of those that have gone before him. With artists like him, country music is in great shape. Scotty, it is my distinct honor to say congratulations on officially becoming the newest member of the world-famous home of country music, the Grand Ole Opry.”

Scotty McCreery Celebrates No. 1 Single With Hootie & the Blowfish

McCreery’s last studio album, Rise & Fall, was released in 2024. He also released his Scooter & Friends EP in 2025. The project includes his “Bottle Rockets” collaboration with Hootie & the Blowfish. The song became McCreery’s seventh No. 1 single.

“We had a lot of songs started going into that retreat, but this song came out of a conversation,” McCreery recalls on Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen, sharing the story behind “Bottle Rockets.” “This was us reminiscing on previous summers, like ‘I remember my last summer of no job, no responsibilities and school was out. That was such a fun summer.’ And for me in the Carolinas, and I think for everybody worldwide, Hootie & the Blowfish were huge. It was just talking about those soundtracks of summer. I forget who played into it first, but the chords were kind of matching, and we were like, ‘Man, that’s kind of cool,’ so we just ran with it.”
