![Chase Wright Embraces Heartache and Hope in 'Chasing Shadows' [EXCLUSIVE]](https://www.everythingnash.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/chase-wright-michelle-may.jpg)
Chase Wright has an honest new album, Chasing Shadows, out now. Co-written entirely by Wright, the record is a very autobiographical look at what life has been like for Wright, including fighting for custody of his son, and the challenges of overcoming a toxic relationship.
“This record has been a couple of years in the making,” Wright tells Everything Nash. “I feel like it came at a time where I was going through so much, and these songs really helped me through the hardest time of my life. My goal is that when people listen to the record from top to bottom, maybe a song can help them through something similar, or just help them through difficult situations as much as they’ve helped me.”
Much has changed for Wright recently, including gaining custody of his son and marrying the woman he describes as the love of his life. It’s all highs and lows that are evident in the songs on Chasing Shadows.
“This album is really like the ending of a chapter,” Wright reflects. “I needed to get all this stuff off my chest. But also, at the end of the day, I’m in such a happier place now. And I feel like that part of my life is behind me. I want people to grow as much as I did when they listen to the record, as I did writing the record, and hopefully get to the other end where there are brighter days ahead.”

What Chase Wright Says About Overcoming the Hard Times
Wright was unafraid to share his pain through his music. While some artists try to only share their highlight reel, the singer-songwriter boldly opened his heart in all the tracks on Chasing Shadows.
“There were so many blessings that came like from it,” Wright maintains. “Those were the toughest days that I’ve ever gone through. But who I am on the other end of it, I’m super grateful for. And so, it’s one of those things where I try to find the silver lining in all those difficult moments. And I am really grateful for how things ended up.”
Wright also knows that it’s the hard times that not only created Chasing Shadows, but made him a stronger person today, after going through so much heartache.
“I wouldn’t be the man I am today without those tough moments,” Wright says. “And to have all that time to spend with my kid, there have been so many blessings that came from that really difficult season. I’m so grateful to be married to the woman I’m married to. And none of that would’ve happened either if I hadn’t gone through those tough things. … When I first met my wife, I knew on the first date that we were gonna get married. I texted my mom instantly, and I was like, ‘Wifey.'”
“There are just so many things looking back that I’m grateful for, ” he remarks. ‘Even though that season was very, very difficult, and I wouldn’t really wish it on my worst enemy. But so many great things came from it.”
Why Chase Wright Wrote All Of the Songs on ‘Chasing Shadows’
For Wright, it was important for him to write all of the songs on Chasing Shadows, even though he says that may not be true for all of his records.
“Songwriting is something I absolutely love,” Wright says. “I would totally cut an outside song, and I’ve cut two outside songs in my life. One on the first project, one on the second. But I just love writing. I feel like I’ve got something to say, always, and I kind of know what I want to say and how I wanna say it. I listen to outside songs, trying to edit the songs or whatever, and it’s like, that’s not really fair. I just really find joy in writing my own music. And not to say that if somebody handed me 100 outside songs, I wouldn’t want to cut ten or 15 to put them on a record. But that’s just something I’ve loved since I moved to town.
“I moved to town on a publishing deal, and wrote songs for a living for a couple of years, and then put out my own music shortly after that,” he adds. “And so, that’s something that I take a lot of like, pride in, and I think it’s one of my gifts.”
Wright is spending some of the summer on tour with Drew Baldridge. Find all of Wright’s music and tour dates at ChaseWrightMusic.com.
