Riley Green Has Some ‘Awesome Collaborations’ On His Next Record

Riley Green Has Some 'Awesome Collaborations' On His Next Record

Riley Green has some special guests on his next album. The Alabama native is working on the follow-up to his latest Don’t Mind If I Do record, which he hints will feature a few other artists.

“Well, there are some collaborations on this project that I didn’t even expect,” Green tells Taste of Country Nights. “So some of those things were, it’s kind of pinch yourself moments.”

Green has had two duets, both “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Don’t Mind If I Do” with Ella Langley. But the new collaborators sound more like veterans than his peers.

“When you get artists that you’re such a big fan of and that you grew up listening to, be a part of your project… I’m sure I can’t name any names,” Green says. “But there’s some really awesome collaborations coming on this record.”

Green also joins Carly Pearce on “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay“. The song is from her next project.

What Riley Green Says About Singing With Ella Langley

Green is working on a new record with a few duets, but he also says he would be interested in doing an entire album of duets with Langley, after the success of “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Don’t Mind If I Do.”

“I don’t know how we wouldn’t entertain that,” Green says. “We’ve had such a great track record, and we were fortunate to be on tour together, too. She was out on the road with me when we had those two songs, and that doesn’t happen very often.”

While both Green and Langley have denied any romance between them, Green understands that fans wanting to see them together is what makes their duets so successful.

“You don’t see it a lot anymore,” Green explains on Country Countdown USA. “I think that’s what drew fans to these songs. You want to believe the lyrics are true. Us writing and performing these songs, it came easy for us. We’re both from Alabama. We had a lot of the same influences.”

Riley Green’s Current “Change My Mind” Single

Green has a Top 5 single of his own right now, with “Change My Mind.” The song, on Don’t Mind If I Do, is written by Green, along with Erik Dylan and Randy Montana. “Change My Mind” says in part, “Show up in a midnight sundress / Burn me up with a whiskey kiss / Look at me with them pretty brown eyes / And tell me lies just to change my mind / You know I’m giving in, so go ahead / Do it, baby, like you’ve done a thousand times / Change my mind.”

Green, who also had a hit single with “Worst Way,” says he isn’t afraid to be a bit suggestive in his music.

“The lyrics that don’t make it into the songs are where we went too far,” Green explains. “So, we usually go there, and then we backtrack to a place where we think maybe somebody won’t be offended. But to a certain extent, ‘Worst Way’ is a pretty direct song. And it’s done really well for me, so I guess we don’t shy away from it too much.”
