Cody Johnson Celebrates 'Momentous Occasions' During 2026 Headlining Tour

Cody Johnson loves performing. For Johnson, a talented singer and songwriter, everything he does in country music leads him to his favorite part, which is singing in front of a live audience.

“That’s my favorite part about what I do,” Johnson tells the Country Music Association. “Getting to go do a charitable event, or to get to do interviews, or appearances, or award shows, that’s all stuff that comes with being successful in this industry. But my favorite thing is always the nuts and bolts of it, and that’s getting on stage with my boys, and making the crowd turn upside down.”

Cody Johnson Talks Headlining 2026 Tour

Johnson had to cancel the last few months of his tour last year, due to needing emergency surgery. The break, disappointing at the time, makes his return to touring this year that much sweeter.

“We went pretty simple this year for my tour,” the father of three says. “It’s just Cody Johnson Live ’26, with the anticipation of Banks Of The Trinity, my new album, coming out on June 26. This year’s been different because I had the three months off last year with my busted eardrum. There was this huge anticipation from my band, my crew, everybody involved, and the fans, ready to come back. … And so, we’ve had some really momentous occasions this year.

“Set the record at NRG Stadium in Houston, got to headline Stagecoach for the first time, got to open up for George Strait, had the ACM Awards,” he adds. “We’ve got a bunch of great shows coming up that I’m excited about. CMAs at the end of the year. I just feel like the tide is really strong, and we’re just trying to ride it.”

Cody Johnson’s ‘Banks Of The Trinity’ Album

Johnson’s Banks Of The Trinity album is his fourth on Warner Music Nashville, and perhaps his most personal.

“On this album, I wanted to tell the story about my childhood,” Johnson said when announcing the record. “When I heard the song ‘Banks Of The Trinity’ for the first time, it was like this portrait showed in my head of memories that I had honestly forgotten. It just took me back home to Sebastopol, Texas, where I grew up on the Trinity River. I had tears in my eyes when I heard it for the first time.”

Banks Of The Trinity includes collaborations with both Luke Combs and Brothers Osborne.

In addition to headlining his own tour dates, Johnson is also part of the upcoming CMA Fest TV special. The three-hour show, CMA Fest Presented by SoFi, will air on Thursday, June 25 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC, and stream the next day on Hulu. In addition to Johnson, other performers for the star-studded special include Blake Shelton, Carly Pearce,  Ella Langley, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Luke Bryan,  Riley Green, and Tim McGraw, among others.
