Chris Young Announces Opening Of His Famous Friends Nashville Bar

We now know when Chris Young‘s Famous Friends Nashville bar will open to the public. Young reveals on social media that Famous Friends will be open for business on Wednesday, June 24, at 11:00 AM.

“IT’S OFFICIAL,” a post on social media reads. “The doors are opening. The drinks are cold. See y’all Wednesday.”

Famous Friends is located at 1516A Demonbreun Street, in a part of Nashville away from the busyness of downtown.

“I just found the right space,” Young tells The Big 98. “I didn’t want something that was crazy big, multi-story. I wanted to do a sports bar. I wanted to do something that doesn’t necessarily lean towards the part of my life that is the majority of it, which is music. I wanted to do something a little bit different. So, I finally found a spot. It’s a 94-person [capacity]. And, I was like, ‘Yeah, this is it. This is what I’ve been looking for.’”

What Chris Young Says About the Food at Famous Friends

Young has put a lot of thought into all aspects of Famous Friends, including the food.

“My chefs are absolutely incredible,” Young says. “I feel like it’s sort of a slap in the face to them to call it elevated bar food, because it’s so nice. We did a taste test of everything, and I was just like, ‘Man, this is insane.’ It’s going to be a lot of fun to have that place open. We’ve got a bunch of stuff that we’ve hung up on the walls, whether it’s sports memorabilia, all the way to plaques of mine for music, to stuff from friends of mine that they’ve given, and been like, ‘Hey, man, hang this up. Let it have a spot.

“So, it’s just going to be a different vibe, and something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time,” he adds. “And it just timed out perfect.”

Why Chris Young Wanted to Open Famous Friends

Young certainly has enough to keep him busy with his superstar career. But for Young, having his own place is important to him. Still, unlike some of the other celebrity bars, Young is making Famous Friends stand out in several ways, including the intimate size. Famous Friends is also what Young calls a “true sports bar,” instead of making it another music venue.

“They call it a shotgun-style bar because it’s like a rectangle,” Young explains. “It’s longer than it is wide. It’s one floor, but it’s meant to be a true sports bar, and just sort of a vibey place to hang out. I’ve talked about doing it for years. This, for me, was just a passion project. It was just something else — not that I’m not already as busy as I could possibly be — I decided I wanted to do one more thing. But it’s been on my mind for years now. I’ve been looking for the right place, and I just happened to find it.

“A lot of people go to that area and just hang out,” he continues. “I wanted to be able to offer something a little bit different, and also have a place where maybe we’ll throw some No. 1 parties there. Maybe we’ll have some private events there. Maybe we’ll do a little bit of everything, but also have a place specifically for me, just my love of music and my love of sports. That’s going to be the walls of this place.”
