Alexandra Kay Teases New Song, 'To Know Him,' From Next Album [WATCH]

Alexandra Kay is teasing a new song from her next album. Kay, whose sophomore Second Wind record came out in October, just shared part of a brand-new song from an upcoming record on social media.

“One of the hardest parts about a relationship ending is eventually they’re going to move on, and eventually, there’s going to be somebody out there that knows them better than you,” Kay says before playing the song.

Kay captions the video by saying, “I think it’s about time I start sharing some new songs with y’all. This one’s called ‘To Know Him.’”

“To Know Him” says in part, “I know him well enough to know his coffee cup takes two sugars, and one won’t wake him up / I know that when he’s mad, he still can’t help but laugh / He doesn’t tan, just freckles in the sun / And holding onto him is like trying to hold the wind / And it ain’t your fault for thinking that you can / To know him is to love him / And to love him is to lose him / And to lose him, I’m losing so much of myself / It’s a different kind of hell knowing someday someone else / Gets to know him like I knew him.

Alexandra Kay Finds Love Again With Rocko Beall

Kay chronicled the pain over the end of her first marriage in her freshman All I’ve Ever Known record, out in 2023. Fortunately, the Illinois native has found love again, this time with her band member, Rocko Beall.

The two were friends for several years first. But after Kay’s marriage ended, she began seeing him in a new light.

“Honestly, I didn’t look at him like that. I didn’t. I was single for the first time in 11 years, and he was very reliable,” Kay recalls on Joel Madden’s Artist Friendly podcast. “He was very sweet, very kind. He’s great. He’s like one of the best guys I’ve ever met. He really is. He’s an incredible person. To be completely honest, one night, we were having beers backstage, like one will do after a show. And I looked over at [Kay’s manager] Beth, and I was like, ‘Rocko’s kind of cute.’ She was like, ‘What?’ I was like, ‘Maybe I’ve just had too much.’”

Once Kay did realize she was developing feelings for Beall, it didn’t take long for her to fall in love.

“I feel like I fell in love with him before I ever even liked him, and had a crush on him,” Kay concedes. “It was just, I loved him so much as a person, as a human, as a friend. And then, when I started to feel that romantic connection and that attraction to him like that, ’cause he was single and I was single at the same time. We spent so much time together. That’s when I started to look at him in a different light.”

Perhaps surprisingly, Beall was reluctant to date Kay at first, but only because of their professional relationship and their friendship.

“He said, ‘I love this job so much, and I love you so much, and that would get so messy.  I don’t want to lose my job,’” Kay recalls. “I said, ‘Okay.’ We tried to just be friends. … He’s my soulmate.”

Straight For the Heart” from Second Wind is currently in the Top 30. Kay was just announced as the opener for Jon Pardi‘s Gamblin’ Man Tour.
