Alabama’s 2021 Nashville Tour Dates to Include Martina McBride

Alabama’s rescheduled Nashville shows, as part of their 50th Anniversary Tour, will now include Martina McBride. The iconic group announced that the “Broken Wing” singer will join them for both shows, on July 2 and July 3, at Bridgestone Arena in Music City.

Alabama launched their 50th Anniversary Tour in 2019, subsequently canceling several shows due to lead singer Randy Owen’s ongoing battle with vertigo.

“The 50th Anniversary Tour has been very special to us,” band member Teddy Gentry said at the time. “The support of the fans and their energy at all of our shows has led to some of the most fun we’ve ever had onstage. As disappointed as myself, Randy, and Jeff are to have to postpone this tour for all of our incredible fans, we know that Randy’s recovery is what is most important for everyone at this time. We would like to thank our fans, promoters, and venues and we look forward to seeing you all soon.”

The tour later was rescheduled again due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Charlie Daniels Band was slated to join Alabama for one of the Nashville shows. Charlie Daniels passed away on July 6 of a hemorrhagic stroke.

“From the eighties until last year, I’ve had the pleasure of not only touring with but getting to know Charlie Daniels,” Teddy said in a statement after Charlie’s death. “He was everything on stage a great artist should be. But it was the off stage Charlie I grew to love over the years. Many times Charlie would answer the call to do charity work and never charge a cent. He set a humble example of what a man, a friend, and Christian should be by the way he treated others. I’m gonna miss you my friend.”

Alabama will be part of the all-star 2021 Volunteer Jam: A Musical Salute to Charlie Daniels, which will take place on February 22, also at the Bridgestone Arena.

Alabama formed in 1969 with Randy and Teddy, later adding Jeff Cook. They released their first record, Wild Country, in 1976, and went on to sell more than 80 million albums, with an astonishing 43 No. 1 singles.
