Alabama’s June Jam Includes The Oak Ridge Boys, Home Free + More

Alabama‘s June Jam is returning this year, for the first time since 1997, with an impressive list of artists joining them for the all-day musical event. The legendary group will be joined by The Oak Ridge Boys, Neal McCoy, Home Free, Jamey Johnson, Jake Owen, Mark Wills, Exile, Dailey & Vincent, The Malpass Brothers,  Dee Jay Silver, and The Frontmen. Randy Travis will also make a special appearance as well.

Alabama’s Fan Appreciation Week will take place immediately ahead of June Jam. The week will include Teddy Gentry’s Singing With the Stars contest, a Songwriter Showcase Spectacular, and a brunch at Cook Castle for the Jeff & Lisa Cook Foundation. A public Celebration of Life will also take place on June 3 at 12:00 PM for the late Jeff Cook, one of Alabama’s founding members, who passed away on November 7, after a lengthy bout with Parkinson’s disease.

“He lived to play our music we created together,” Owen said when Cook passed away. “He could play any instrument he chose, but his harmonies I’ll miss the most. I’m thankful we got to create music together for over 50 years! Wish we could play ‘My Home’s in Alabama’ one more time. I’m hurt in a way I can’t describe.”

June Jam began first as a benefit concert in 1982, with the inaugural event drawing more than 30,000 fans. The event has raised more than $15 million for charities.

“Our wishes are that Fort Payne will take June Jam and it will go on forever,” Alabama’s lead singer Randy Owen said of the event. “We lost Jeff and when me and Teddy are gone, hopefully the city will continue with the June Jam. We want this to continue to help the city, the town, the state, and just help people in general.”

Earlier this year, Alabama was honored in their hometown of Fort Payne, Alabama, with the V.I. Prewett Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce. The honor was given to Alabama in recognition of their lengthy history of giving back to the local community.

“It is really something special when you get honored by your hometown,” said Gentry. “We are humbled by the award and are proud to have been born and raised in Fort Payne. Can’t wait for June Jam!”

June Jam will be held at the VFW Fairgrounds in Fort Payne. Tickets for June Jam are available now, via Ticketmaster. More information on Fan Appreciation Week, and tickets for each of the events, can be found at TheAlabamaBand.com.
