Alexandra Kay’s ‘Second Wind’ Album
Kay’s Second Wind: The Tour is in support of her forthcoming Second Wind album, out on October 24. The record, which follows Kay’s frehman All I’ve Ever Known project, is her first on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.
“I’m so ready to share these songs with the people who have been with me every step of the way,” Kay says. “Over the past two years, I’ve done a lot of growing — and over the last year, I’ve had the chance to write about the version of myself that’s emerged from that growth. This album reflects a new side of me, and I can’t wait for my fans to experience it live — especially the happier songs that I’m hoping they’ll be screaming right back at me from the crowd.”
All I’ve Ever Known was a record of resilience over heartbreak, after the end of Kay’s first marriage. For Kay, and her fans, Second Wind is a natural progresion.
“I started writing Second Wind, the album, last year,” Kay tells Country Swag. “What I really wanted to do, and what I kept at the forefront of my mind when it comes to this record is, I didn’t want the fans to listen to it and think it was so incredibly different from All I’ve Ever Known, the album. Because the truth is, that’s not how healing happens. You don’t go from feeling how I felt in All I’ve Ever Known, then jump to pure happiness and love again.”
Kay has already released “Cupid’s a Cowgirl,” “The Last,” and “Feminine Energy, “What He Does” and “Straight For The Heart” from Second Wind. “Straight For The Heart” is Kay’s current single, one she also predicts will be her first No. 1 at country radio.
Alexandra Kay Signs With A Major Record Label
Kay released All I’ve Ever Known on her own, as an independent artist. But when the opportunity came for her to be part of BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, she knew she had found her home.
“It’s been an absolute joy to work with them on this project,” Kay tells Entertainment-Focus. “They are so caring and they really put the artist first, which is not something every label does. A lot of people [said], ‘Oh, you were so independent for so long and you waved that flag so high,’ and I did. But it’s been cool to have this incredible team that will push me to the next level now.”
Kay’s Second Wind: The Tour wraps up on November 16. Find music and tour dates, and pre-order Second Wind, at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
