Alexandra Kay is embracing her feminine side. The talented singer-songwriter just released a new song, “Feminine Energy,” due to fan demand.
The empowering anthem is from Kay’s next album, her first on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. The record also includes “Cupid’s a Cowgirl,” “The Last” and “Better Off,” a personal song about her life after her painful divorce, and then falling in love again.
“I shared it with my label and they were like, ‘Oh yeah, absolutely,’” Kay tells Country Now. “And so we’re just kind of going to tell the story from ‘Better Off’ kind of living in that land and then kind of trickle down to where we get to the happy stuff. So you’re definitely going to hear where I am now, where I’ve been in some transition songs over the last two years too.”
A new album isn’t the only thing Kay has to look forward to this year. She just opened The Coffee Girl, a coffee shop in her hometown of Waterloo, Illinois.
“It means everything to me, because I became The Coffee Girl in 2020 by pure chance,” Kay shares on social media. “The coolest thing is to have this dream, but then show up to the actual location, and it’s everything I ever dreamt and more.”
“This is just my hometown cafe,” she adds. “This is just the place I’ve made so many memories with my sisters, especially. To fast forward and be here, I just can’t believe it.”
Indeed, The Coffee Girl is where Kay’s former favorite coffee shop once was, Bean Tree Café, although Kay could have at one time never imagined that the place would one day be hers.
“I used to live in the apartment building right next door, and I never left town without going to Bean Tree with my sisters and having lunch or breakfast,” Kay tells Sauce.

When Kay decided she wanted to open her own coffee shop, she went to the owners of Bean Tree for advice, who surprisingly offered to sell their own coffee shop to her instead.
“It was the perfect fit. I got my dream location [was able to] help my friends retire,” Kay says.
Kay’s new album, the follow-up to her personal All I’ve Ever Known record, will be out later this year. It’s her first on a major record label, after spending the last several years as a successful independent artist.
“It’s been an absolute joy to work with them on this project,” Kay tells Entertainment-Focus. “They are so caring and they really put the artist first, which is not something every label does. A lot of people ‘Oh, you were so independent for so long and you waved that flag so high,’ and I did. But it’s been cool to have this incredible team that will push me to the next level now.”
Kay doesn’t know when her new record will be out, but she hints it will be sometime in 2025.
“It will definitely be out by the end of the year,” Kay reveals. “In a couple of months you guys will start hearing more about the actual details of it. The writing is all done, and so anything that I write now will be saved for something like a deluxe version or maybe even the next record – who knows.”
The Coffee Girl is located at 219 South Main Street in Waterloo, Illinois. Find all of Kay’s music, including “Feminine Energy,” and her upcoming shows at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
