Alexandra Kay is opening up about some of the challenges of her job. Kay, who has worked for years to achieve her level of success, admits that it isn’t always easy, and some days are just really, really hard.

“Something that I’ve never said before in an interview that I think is important for anyone to hear is that I don’t always like doing this,” Kay bravely admits on the I’ve Never Said This Before podcast. “I don’t always like the career path I chose. And I think that, no matter what career path you choose, you’re not always going to like it. Everybody looks at it, and they’re going to go, ‘But if I’m living my dream, I’m gonna wake up every single day, and it’s not gonna feel like work.’  That’s not true. You are going to wake up some days, and it is going to feel like work, and you are going to get on that plane two hours later, after you just got off of another plane, and you haven’t slept in three days.

“Those days,” she continues, “you’re probably not going to like what you’re doing. And that’s okay. I think I’m Miss Positivity, and I think that that is something that I’ve never said. But it’s also something that is very human, and that I think people need to talk more about. And you’re a superhero if you learn to work that feeling on that day and just keep going.”

Alexandra Kay’s Hit Single, “Straight For The Heart”

Kay has a hit single at radio with “Straight For The Heart, from Kay’s sophomore Second Wind album. It’s a song, already in the Top 30, which Kay predicts will be her first No. 1 single. “Straight For The Heart” is written by Jimmy Robbins, Karley Scott Collins, and Sasha Sloan.

“I actually heard this song while sitting in a pitch meeting for some songs,” Kay tells Country Swag. “As soon as it played, I had to have that song. I love it. I love that it really describes how I felt with this kind of female intuition of knowing that things were going south and being strong enough to know that I didn’t have to get let down easy.”

Alexandra Kay Is Working On Her Third Studio Album

Earlier this year, Kay revealed that she is already working on her third studio album, only a few months after releasing Second Wind.

“I’m writing my third album now. I’ve already written a bunch of songs for it,” Kay reveals on XTU Philadelphia. Although able to write both, for Kay, almost all of her songs start with the words.

“I’m a lyrics person first….I think that’s because I grew up not playing any instruments, and just grew up as a writer, just diary entries that turned to poems,” Kay explains. “And then heard melodies and wrote that. And then, I learned how to play an instrument after that. I could just write it without anything.”
