Alexandra Kay just performed at the Grand Ole Opry, where she sang a brand-new song. Kay, who is working on her first record for BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, sang a gorgeous new song, likely inspired by her relationship with her band member, Rocko Beall.
Prior to her performance, Kay teased on social media that she would be performing all new songs from her next project.
“If you did what he does,” Kay sings, in a video shared by a fan. “He makes it look so easy / Why the hell was it so tough / If you loved like he loves / Just like that I never had a reason to run / I’d die before I go back to that life / But sometimes I wonder what it might be like / If you did what he does.”

Kay just dropped another new song, “Feminine Energy,” from her next set of tunes. The new album, the follow-up to her 2023 All I’ve Ever Known record, also includes “Cupid’s a Cowgirl,” “Better Off” and “The Last,” a song inspired by Beall.
“We perform it together every night acoustic, and it’s a real moment. It’s wonderful,” Kay tells tells Country Now, speaking of of “The Last,” a song that feels full-circle for Kay.
“It feels great,” she remarks. “On my last album, there’s a song called ‘Painted Him Perfect.’ And in that song it says, ‘I’d sing his praises on every stage, and he just had to mention he hates the attention.’ And so, it feels really cool in my life to be up there with somebody that I can just love so loudly, and he’s not embarrassed by that, and he loves me so loudly and so proudly, and it’s just a really healthy scenario. It feels amazing.”
In addition to working on new music, Kay is also a proud coffee shop owner. The singer-songwriter just opened The Coffee Girl, in her hometown of Waterloo, Illinois. The idea began when Kay began posting videos of her singing country music covers in 2020, while making her coffee, becoming known as The Coffee Girl.
“It was always my dream, ever since those videos went viral, that one day I’m going to open up my own shop,” Kay tells Sauce.
The Coffee Girl is located where her former favorite coffee shop, The Bean Tree Café, was located.
“I used to live in the apartment building right next door, and I never left town without going to Bean Tree with my sisters and having lunch or breakfast,” Kay reveals.
Kay expects her album to be out by the end of the year. She is headlining her own shows this year, as well as joining Brad Paisley for select dates this year on his Truck Still Works Tour. Find all of Kay’s music and upcoming shows at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
