Alexandra Kay Praises Boyfriend Rocko Beall After Devastating Divorce

Alexandra Kay is deeply, madly in love, and is a better person for it. Kay began dating her band member, Rocko Beall, following her devastating divorce, a relationship that has changed everything for her.

“He just meets me with just kindness,” Kay boasts to People. “As soon as I trusted Rocko, he never gave me any reason to feel like I had to protect myself. And so, I became so feminine and carefree and happy, and I just felt so protected.”

It’s Beall who inspires some of the songs on Kay’s forthcoming Second Wind album, out on October 24, including “What He Does,”  “The Last,” and more.

“He’s the most loving, caring, talented, beautiful human being I’ve ever met,” Kay boasts. “I’m just so excited that the world just gets to see him for who he is in this album — and also every night on stage.”

Alexandra Kay’s ‘Second Wind’ Album

Kay’s freshman All I’ve Ever Known album, out in 2023, detailed her pain amid her unexpected divorce from Indiana Touchette, whom she had been with for more than a decade. But as she began working on what became Second Wind, the Illinois native found herself in a mcuh different, healthier place, than she was when writing her first record.

“When we started writing last year, I was really starting to settle into my relationship,” Kay recalls. “Because at first, dating someone else felt very strange, having been with the same person for 11 years. I did not dive in immediately. I was very much, ‘toes in the water, let’s test the temperature’ a bit. I was starting to trust someone with my heart again.”

Kay didn’t hide her heartache on All I’ve Ever Known, with songs like “Painted Him Perfect,” “Everleave,” and others.

“It was truly the worst pain,” Kay now admits. “I wouldn’t wish that sort of pain on my worst enemy. He was all I’d ever known, and then suddenly, I was dealing with being alone for the first time. It was a terrifying feeling.”

Now, Kay is happier than ever, and excited for fans to hear her journey on Second Wind.

“‘Transform’ is a weird word because I don’t want anybody to think I’ve changed,” Kay reflects. “I’ve just become a better version of myself since leaving my toxic relationship.”

Alexandra Kay’s “Straight For The Heart” Single

Alexandra Kay predicts that “Straight For The Heart,” her first single from Second Wind, will also become her first No. 1 hit. The song, written by Karley Scott Collins, Jimmy Robbins, and Sasha Sloan, is one of only two songs that Kay did not write for Second Wind.

”’Straight For The Heart’ is actually my first outside cut by myself,” Kay tells Country Swag. “I actually heard this song while sitting in a pitch meeting for some songs. As soon as it played, I had to have that song. I love it. I love that it really describes how I felt with this kind of female intuition of knowing that things were going south and being strong enough to know that I didn’t have to get let down easy.”
