Alexandra Kay is opening another coffee shop, this one in Nashville. Kay, who opened her The Coffee Girl in her hometown of Waterloo, Illinois earlier this year, reveals she is planning to open a second location, this one in the heart of Music City.
“We’re just now looking for the right location,” Kay shares on The Big 98 radio station. “I want to have hopefully my first No. 1 on country radio. That’s my big goal for next year, for ‘Straight For the Heart.’ Hopefully, I’ll accomplish that, and then people will start to come to Nashville, and be like, ‘I want to go to Jason Aldean’s [bar] and Lainey Wilson’s [bar], and I want to go to Alexandra Kay’s coffee shop. I want to be on someone’s Nashville checklist.”
Kay spends a lot of time on the road, including on her current headlining Second Wind: The Tour. Although it may be inconvenient, the singer-songwriter says she will go out of her way to visit a local shop.
“We will walk for miles to not go to a Starbucks or a Dunkin…. We won’t go to a big place,” Kay says. “I want to go to a small, mom-and-pop shop somewhere.”

Alexandra Kay Opens The Coffee Girl
Kay opening The Coffee Girl is a dream come true for the singer, who launched her own independent career by singing cover songs of country music hits while making her coffee each day. Those covers earned her millions of fans, and an opening slot on Tim McGraw‘s Tour.
“It was always my dream, ever since those videos went viral, that one day I’m going to open up my own shop,” Kay tells Sauce.
In a serendipitous, full-circle moment, Kay’s The Coffee Girl in Waterloo is in the same location where her favorite coffee shop, Bean Tree Café, was once located.
“I used to live in the apartment building right next door, and I never left town without going to Bean Tree with my sisters and having lunch or breakfast.”
Kay approached the owners about opening her own coffee shop, and was surprised with their offer to sell Bean Tree to her instead.
“It was the perfect fit. I got my dream location [was able to] help my friends retire,” Kay says.

Alexandra Kay Releases Her Sophomore ‘Second Wind’ Album
Kay’s sophomore Second Wind album is out. The record, her first on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, follows her debut All I’ve Ever Known project. That record, chronicling her healing after a painful divorce, is much different than Second Wind, which shares her journey of falling in love again, this time with her band leader, Rocko Beall.
“It was a very conscious decision to describe what it felt like opening my heart again to someone else,” Kay tells Billboard. “I was very much living that, so I was like, ‘Let me just start writing love songs,’ which I had never done. You don’t just flip a switch and automatically you’re trusting and open to love again. I wanted to take people through that process.”
