Alexandra Kay is expanding her business empire. The singer-songwriter is opening her own coffeeshop, appropriately called The Coffee Girl, in her hometown of Waterloo, Illinois.

The Coffee Girl opens on Thursday, June 19, just part of a busy week for the rising star.

“So much happening this week!” Kay writes on social media. “The opening of my first coffee shop and cafe The Coffee Girl on Thursday AND the release of my new song ‘Feminine Energy’ on Friday AND my biggestest headline show EVER at St. Louis Music park on FRIDAY.”

Kay earned the name “The Coffee Girl” five years ago, when she began sharing videos of her singing covers on social media, while making her coffee.

“Back in 2020, I started doing this thing on TikTok that got millions and millions of views, where I would make my coffee in the mornings and sing whilst I was doing it,” Kay tells Entertainment-Focus. “From there everybody called me ‘The Coffee Girl.’ Still, to this day, everybody brings me coffee cups – my fans are so great and they put a lot of thought into the gifts.

“I don’t know how we built this relationship so fast,” she adds. “I think All I’ve Ever Known resonated with a lot of people and got to show me in a new light. It showed people that I was a real human going through really hard stuff, just like they were.”

“Feminine Energy” is from Kay’s forthcoming new album, her first on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville

“It will definitely be out by the end of the year,” Kay reveals. “In a couple of months you guys will start hearing more about the actual details of it. The writing is all done and so anything that I write now will be saved for something like a deluxe version or maybe even the next record – who knows.”

Kay’s debut All I’ve Ever Known project chronicled the devastating end of her marriage to Indiana Touchette. The album changed everything for Kay, who is now happily in love with her band member,  Rocko Beal.

“It changed my whole life,” Kay says of All I’ve Ever Known. “It not only gave me an outlet to process me feelings and all the crazy things I was going through at that time, but it also took my relationship with my fans to another level and enabled us to get to know each other in personal ways. … No matter what the record does from here on out I think we created something really special and I’m so proud of it.”

Kay already released “The Last” from her next record, a sweet love song that was inspired by Kay’s relationship with Beal.

“I was talking about how I was in a new relationship, and I was very happy and am still in that relationship,” Kay tells Country Now. “And the one thing that always kind of stayed in the back of my mind is, I really hope that me having some of these life experiences before him doesn’t sour them for him at some point in life.

“And so that was kind of just the conversation we were having,” she continues. “And we just started talking about how we wanted to write a song about how it doesn’t matter anything that’s happened prior to this. It’s like life starts now with you and it doesn’t matter what happened first as long as I do that last with you.”

The Coffee Girl is located at 219 South Main Street in Waterloo, Illinois. Find all of Kay’s music and upcoming shows at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
