Chapel Hart Splits 3 Years After 'AGT,' Form New Duo Without Danica Hart

It’s the end of an era for Chapel Hart. The trio, made up of sisters Danica and Devynn Hart and cousin Trea Swindle, announce on social media that they are taking a break from making music. The news comes after the threesome canceled several shows and appearances earlier this summer.

“Over the last few years, Chapel Hart has taken us places we never could have imagined,” Chapel Hart says in a statement. “We have laughed, cried, grown, and stood on stages we used to dream about. More than anything, we have shared a bond that goes deeper than music, and that part will always remain.

“As we each step into new seasons in life, we have decided to press pause on Chapel Hart so we can explore other passions and dreams that have been calling to us individually,” the statement continues. “This is not a goodbye. It is a celebration of everything we have built and a step toward everything still to come.”

Chapel Hart Moves On Without Danica Hart

The shared statement also hints that Devynn and Trea are moving on without Danica.

“We kindly ask for the same love and support as we each walk our different paths,” the trio shares. “You can find Danica sharing her journey at @thedanicahart while Dev and Trea begin their next chapter at @magnoliarisingofficial. Thank you for being part of this incredible ride. The Chapel Hart story will always be a beautiful part of our lives, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for each of us.”

Chapel Hart has only a few more shows on their tour schedule right now, shows Chapel Hart says they intend to keep.

“We want to celebrate the community we’ve built together,” Chapel Hart says. “So as we finish playing our scheduled shows for the rest of the season, we hope that we get to see each and every one of you on the road!! We love and thank you for being a part of the congregation and we look forward to your continued support.”

How Chapel Hart Got Their Start

Chapel Hart had already been making music together as a band for several years when they auditioned in 2022 on America’s Got Talent, earning a Golden Buzzer from all four judges plus Terry Crews. At the time, Chapel Hart was planning on being on tour with the Indigo Girls. When the tour got canceled due to illness, Chapel Hart auditioned for AGT instead, and the rest is history.

“I think the craziest part is we almost didn’t audition at all,” Danica tells Taste of Country.

“We were actually scheduled to go on tour with the Indigo Girls and one of them got sick with COVID,” Trea says. “(AGT scout) Lindsay Rush had reached out a couple of times. Maybe more than a couple of times.”

It seemed like their dreams were coming true when they landed a spot on America’s Got Talent.

“We’ve been trying to break into Nashville for the last couple of years, and It’s been kind of hard when I think country music doesn’t always look like us,” an emotional Danica said from the stage during their first audition.

How Chapel Hart Split

It’s not too surprising that it’s the end of Chapel Hart, at least for now. In a since-deleted Facebook post on July 2, Danica hinted at trouble between her and the other two band members.

“Over the past several months, I have remained silent, but I can no longer stay quiet about what has happened,” Danica said in the post (via Hattiesburg American). “I am at the point of breaking. … The bad behavior and immorality going on that had no consequence or repercussions.”

At the time, Danica hinted that her time with Chapel Hart was coming to an end.

“My intention was to fulfill the commitments and complete the agreed-upon dates,” she wrote. “But given the circumstances, I no longer feel safe or supported to continue.”

Danica and Trea now say they are supportive of Danica, even as they move forward without her.

“We’re supportive of whatever she chooses to do,” Trea tells The Tennessean. “There will always be three different sides to Chapel Hart. This separation allows the fans an opportunity to dive deeper into all three of those sides, individually.”
