Chase Rice Honors His Father With New Album, Out in 2023

New music is coming from Chase Rice in 2023. The singer-songwriter announces the release of his forthcoming new album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, out on February 10. Rice wrote or co-wrote all of the tracks on the record, teaming up with hit songwriters like HARDY, Brad Tursi, Corey Crowder, Brian Kelley and more.

Rice is honoring his late father, Daniel Rice, with I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell. An image of his father, who passed away in 2008, serves as the album’s cover art.

“My dad was one of those good guys you read about – tough, hardworking, always helping other people out,” Rice explains. “I try to live my life in a way that would make him proud. I haven’tt always measured up to that, but I get closer to that man I want to be and the man he’d be proud of every single day. Making this album was a big step towards that musically, too.

“Not only is it the most vulnerable I’ve ever been, it’s also a sound he’d enjoy listening to,” he continues. “I’ve always wanted to honor him by using this photo as an album cover, and I know this project is the one that deserves that. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”

Rice previously said that he was planning on using his father on the album cover, something he wanted to do before, but didn’t feel was right until this record.

“My dad’s going to be the album cover … I’m not going to put an album out with my dad on the cover — he’s not around anymore — unless I think the music would make him proud and be up to that standard that he would have in anything in life,” Rice told Everything Nash. “So this is good stuff.”

The Florida native released his ambitious The Album last year, but said he was more than ready to start a new musical chapter, which he is launching with I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell.

“That was a chapter in my career that I want to close,” Rice said. “Not because it was bad, but because that’s just a period in life where everybody’s done with it. This pandemic’s over. That was all written and produced and put out in three different parts during the pandemic, which was really cool. It allowed me to continue to connect with fans. But with that being in the rearview, I did a lot of writing towards the end of the pandemic that is really, really good. And I wanted to get that out and get a whole new chapter of my career out there. I think you’re gonna hear it’s just a different quality.”
