Chase Wright Welcomes Son Ashur Lee Wright With His Girlfriend, Brittany

Chase Wright is a father! The rising star and his girlfriend, Brittany Norton, welcomed their first child together, Ashur Lee Wright, on November 21, waiting until now to share the good news. The baby boy weighed 7 lbs, 13.5 oz and measured 21 1/4 inches when he was born.

“I knew when I met Brittany that she was special, and I couldn’t imagine living life with anyone else,” Wright tells People. “We both knew shortly after officially dating that one day we wanted to grow the family we were building. Neither of us knew exactly when that would be, but God had a plan for us the entire time.”

When Wright and Norton began dating, she was already the proud mom of her daughter, Eden, which is why Wright is excited to see their family unit expand.

“Initially, she thought that already having a child would scare me away, but it really only excited me to get to know her more,” Wright shares. “Being a father is something I’ve looked forward to for a very long time, and I was excited to fit into that parental role with her as our relationship grew.”

While Wright has enjoyed getting to know Eden, and has learned plenty along the way, he admits he is still navigating what being a father is, especially to a newborn.

“Meeting Eden almost two years ago and becoming a parental figure to her gave me a crash course on what it meant to be a father,” says the singer. “Even though I’ve had some practice, having a child of your own is a bit different. When I met Eden, she was about a year and a half old, so I missed her entire infant stage. I learned a lot from her, but I feel like parenting a toddler can only prepare me so much for what adding Ashur to our family will be like.”

Both Wright and Norton are now happily navigating what it means to parent two children, instead of just one.

“In our first weeks home, it’s been quite a change of pace,” Wright concedes. “Time management has taken on a new meaning. However, the love and excitement of a new baby brother and son has been something that has truly changed our perspective on life.”

Wright’s latest single, “Hurt No More,” is out now. Wright wrote the tune with Kane Brown, Jeremy Bussey, Ben Johnson and Taylor Philips. Find all of Wright’s music by visiting his website.
