Chris Young Drops 'One Of Us' Duet, Shares Details of New Deluxe Album

Chris Young‘s “One Of Us” duet is out. Sung with Shaylen, the song is from the deluxe version of I Didn’t Come Here To Leave, which will be available on June 12.

The duet is one of two collaborations on I Didn’t Come Here To Leave (Deluxe). The 17-song collection also features a song with BRELAND on “If You’re Lucky.” The two wrote the song with Matt McVarney several years ago.

“When we wrote it, I don’t think we originally intended on having both of us on it,” Young says of “If You’re Lucky.” “But when I listened again for the Deluxe record, I knew it needed us both. Our voices complement each other and the track.”

I Didn’t Come Here To Leave (Deluxe) also includes “Wedding Band,” a “one-that-got-away story from a unique perspective,” per a press release.

“One Of Us” says in part, “One of us is movin’ on, one of us is breakin’ down / One of us is partyin’ their way through downtown / One of us is fine, one of us is broken / One of us is replayin’ words unspoken / Looks like you’re fallin’ all the way out of love / That makes one of us.”

Chris Young Releases the Title Track of ‘I Didn’t Come Here To Leave’ to Radio

Young first released “‘Til the Last One Dies” from I Didn’t Come Here To Leave as his debut single from the project. The Grand Ole Opry member is following that song, which hit the Top 25, with the record’s title track.

Young wrote “I Didn’t Come Here To Leave” with Kyle Fishman and Dallas Davidson.

“I just had a lot of fun with this song,” the 40-year-old says. “And I also thought it was a statement of sort of where I’m at in my career, which is weird because if you think about my age compared to some other people that got started, at least on a label, much later than me. They’re older than me, so it’s very interesting to look at it. But I think that being around for 20 years on record labels, I think that’s indicative of that. And it’s sort of me just looking at everybody going, ‘I still have more to say.’”

Chris Young’s New Famous Friends Nashville Bar

In addition to working on new music, Young is also putting the finishing touches on his new Famous Friends Nashville bar.

“It’s meant to be a true sports bar, and just sort of a vibey place to hang out,” he says, per a press release. “I’ve talked about doing it for years. This, for me, was just a passion project. It’s been on my mind for years now. I’ve been looking for the right place, and I just happened to find it.”

Young also reveals what the inside of Famous Friends will look like, ahead of the opening date, which has yet to be announced.

“They call it a shotgun style bar because it’s like a rectangle,” Young shares. “It’s longer than it is wide. It’s one floor, but it’s meant to be a true sports bar, and just sort of a vibey place to hang out. I’ve talked about doing it for years. This, for me, was just a passion project. It was just something else — not that I’m not already as busy as I could possibly be — I decided I wanted to do one more thing. But it’s been on my mind for years now. I’ve been looking for the right place, and I just happened to find it.

“A lot of people go to that area and just hang out,” he continues. “I wanted to be able to offer something a little bit different, and also have a place where maybe we’ll throw some No. 1 parties there. Maybe we’ll have some private events there. Maybe we’ll do a little bit of everything, but also have a place specifically for me, just my love of music and my love of sports. That’s going to be the walls of this place.”

Famous Friends is located at 1516A Demonbreun St, Nashville TN 37203.
