Gabby Barrett Refuses to Release Songs That Compromise Her Faith (Exclusive)

Gabby Barrett’s latest Goldmine album is a mix of all kinds of influences, including country, rock and R&B. While she will gladly sing a variety of styles, on a variety of subjects, the one thing she refuses to do is sing about anything that compromises her Christian faith.

“There’s definitely things that I stray from just because my husband [Cade Foehner] and I are very Bible-centered people,” Gabby told Everything Nash. “We believe that to be our all, and that’s what we lean upon the most. And so whatever the Bible talks about, whatever we think is appropriate often that is we will sing about. So I’m not the girl that’s going to be singing about drinking, just because that’s just not how I am as a person. This album is made up of things that I believe, and things that I want to say.”

The 20-year-old started singing as a child, in an adult gospel choir, which is where she learned to hone her talent, and also learned to share her faith.

“I’ve always sung about the Lord, and I continue to,” Gabby said. “Actually, the last tour that I did, I sang ‘How Great Thou Art,’ at every single show. And that’s actually the song that I ended up getting through American Idol with too. So it’s just funny how things work. I always look to glorify the Lord for everything, especially on the platforms that he gives me It’s very important to me.

“It is something that I absolutely feel the need to do, to talk about how good the Lord is,” she added. “I need to tell everybody else how good He is, and I feel like that’s what I’m supposed to be doing”
