Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Will Perform Together at the Grand Ole Opry

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are heading to the Grand Ole Opry! The husband and wife will perform Saturday night, May 2, while the Opry continues broadcasting their shows to an empty venue, due to COVID-19.

“During this time, they’ve been having guys just show up, and do their thing,” Garth said during his weekly Facebook Live show, Inside Studio G. “So me and Miss Yearwood are going to take the Opry, and I think it’s just us, for the whole Opry show.”

Garth hinted he might perform all country classics, and not do any of his original songs.

“Miss Yearwood says, ‘What are you going to do?'” Garth recalled. “I said, ‘Are you kidding me? I’m gonna do some of the greatest country music on the planet. I don’t even know if I’m gonna do any of mine!’ … I’m sure there’s probably gonna be some [George] Jones, there’s gonna be some Randy Travis, some [George] Strait, some [Merle] Haggard.'”

Garth might not do any of his songs, but he fully expects Trisha to do some of her most-beloved hits.

“The Queen, she’s gonna sing some of the greatest stuff ever, and it could all be her stuff, too,” he hinted. “This is gonna be a fun Saturday night. I’m honored.”

Garth became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1990. Although he’s received numerous awards and accolades since then, including Grammy, ACM and CMA Awards, becoming part of the Opry remains the achievement he is most proud of.

“It’s been an honor,” Garth acknowledged. “I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again: it was one of the greatest honors, if not the greatest honor, I’ve ever had bestowed upon me as a country music artist.  I feel lucky to be a part of that family.”

Craig Morgan and Luke Combs appeared last Saturday night, which Craig called both “historic” and “unusual.” The Grand Ole Opry has broadcast shows live for 4921 consecutive shows. It can be heard at opry.com and wsmonline.com, Opry and WSM mobile apps, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and its flagship home, 650 AM-WSM. It is also broadcast live on Circle Television.
