HARDY Teams Up With Morgan Wallen, Post Malone to Honor Joe Diffie

HARDY has another HIXTAPE coming out next year, this one a collaborative project honoring a country music legend. The “Truck Bed” singer is joining forces with Morgan Wallen and Post Malone to release HIXTAPE Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE, honoring the music of the late Joe Diffie, who passed away in 2020 from COVID complications.

The three teased the new music by performing two of Diffie’s hits,  “John Deere Green” and “Pickup Man” at the recent 2023 CMA Awards.

HARDY says he is “super excited” about what he is calling a “one-of-a-kind project,” which is happening in large part thanks to obtaining the masters of Diffie’s recordings, and adding their voices.

“Joe epitomized the ’90s country voice – he was so good about hearing and cutting hits, recording amazing songs,” HARDY tells CMT. “On a personal level, I only got to meet Joe once, but he was extremely nice to me, and this was in my first year of being an artist when I was an absolute nobody. He was so, so kind to me, and that memory I have of him is truly special to me, too.”

The Diffie family is glad to bring new life to his iconic music with HARDY’s new HIXTAPE project.

“The Diffie Estate is thrilled to partner with Big Loud and HARDY in preserving and revitalizing Joe Diffie’s musical legacy,” Diffie’s estate in a statement. “With their shared excitement and passion, this collaboration promises to carry on the incredible journey of a true legend.”

HARDY and Wallen’s collaboration comes as the Mississippi native wrapped up an unforgettable five years of touring together, with HARDY opening for Wallen on the road.

“5 years of touring with [Morgan Wallen] came to an end last night,” HARDY shared on social media. “There’s so much I can say about how much it’s done for me and my career, but at the end of the day, it all ends in ‘thank you.’. So, thank you. I love you like a brother and these have been the most epic 5 years of my life. And I hate the word epic. But damn it’s true. So proud of ya and everything you accomplished.”

HARDY has been headlining his own the mockingbird & THE CROW Tour, in honor of his most recent album of the same name.

HARDY’s career is continuing to climb on his own merit. The 33-year-old just won two CMA Awards, both for his “wait in the truck” collaboration with Lainey Wilson. The song also won the pair two ACM Awards, and a People’s Choice Country Award.
