Jelly Roll Announces Backroad Baptism Tour With Ashley McBryde, Chase Rice + More

Jelly Roll just announced a massive tour, and he’s bringing along several special guests. The Tennessee native will embark on his Backroad Baptism Tour on July 28 in Southaven, Mississippi, performing in a total of 44 cities, wrapping up on October 14 in Tampa, Florida. He will be joined by several special guests for the tour, including Ashley McBryde, Chase Rice, Struggle Jennings, Caitlynne Curtis, Elle King, Merkules, Three 6 Mafia, Yelawolf and Josh Adam Meyers.

Jelly Roll had an unforgettable year last year, which included a multi-week, No. 1 hit with “Son of a Sinner,” which set a new record on Billboard by remaining at the top of the Emerging Artist chart for 25 weeks. As big as last year was, the 38-year-old predicts this year will be even bigger.

“I’m working on my album right now,” Jelly Roll told Audacy’s Rob + Holly, as his current single, “Need a Favor,” was released. “I didn’t want to come back to country radio with another sad, slow song. So I came back with a sad, mid-tempo song.”

“I got a country album coming in April or May. I’m all in. I’m here for the long haul. [In] 2022 I climbed the mountain of country music,” he continued. “2023, I’m gonna plant the flag to show y’all I’m here… Let me claim a little space.”

It’s fitting that Jennings is joining Jelly Roll on the road, since the two have been friends for two decades, weathering a lot of highs and lows together, including addiction, incarceration and more. Through it all, both Jelly Roll and Jennings have remained each other’s biggest supporters, which comes out in their “Hard to Hate’ collaboration, released earlier this year.

“We have been best friends for 20 years,” Jennings told Everything Nash. “We effortlessly make music together. We got in the studio, and decided to do something different than we had ever done. He’s been leaning more toward the country genre. I’ve got an album coming out that’s about 80 percent country; I’ve always integrated country into my rap. But I’m just exploring, and moving into the next phase of my life and my career. So we were like, ‘We’re gonna do one that’s just singing, just country.’”

Jelly Roll will also serve as direct support for Eric Church, on Church’s The Outsiders Revival Tour. Tickets for the Backroad Baptism Tour will be available beginning on Friday, February 24 at 10:00 AM local time. Find all of Jelly Roll’s upcoming tour dates by visiting his website.
