Jelly Roll is giving fans a new update on his weight loss. The 40-year-old reveals he is about to hit a new weight loss milestone, for the first time in decades, ahead of his WWE debut at SummerSlam on August 2.
“I got fat really young. Like really, really young, was over 300 pounds coming out of middle school,” Jelly Roll admits on the What’s Your Story podcast (via Country Chord). “I’m gonna be under 300 pounds for the first time since middle school the night I walk to that ring at SummerSlam. My goal, though, for the first time since middle school, I will be under 300 pounds for the first time since I was— we’re talking literally now about literally 30 years.”
Jelly Roll knows he feels better with the weight off, but he admits he doesn’t know exactly how much he weighs, mostly because he rarely checks.
“I weigh in once a month,” he says.
Jelly Roll began his weight loss journey in 2022. At the time, he said it was mostly for himself.
“I don’t even have a goal when it comes to health,” Jelly Roll told Fox News Digital in 2023. “I just want to keep doing the right thing and feeling better. I’m starting to find a will to live and I wanna lean into that, that’s it. I just want to be happier.”
Jelly Roll’s New Weight Loss Goal
Last December, Jelly Roll announced a new goal: to be on the cover of Men’s Health magazine in 2026.
Now, the Nashville native reveals another goal, one that he admits at least one person on a team will not be a fan of him saying out loud.
“You want me to set another big one right now? I haven’t set another one in a while. This’ll make my publicist hate me. I wanna do a shirt off cover in ‘27,'” Jelly Roll says.

How Jelly Roll Is Losing Weight
Jelly Roll began training for a 5K in 2024, which helped shed a lot of weight. He also brings a chef with him on the road, who creates healthy, and delicious, meals for him to enjoy. He also exercises and focuses on moving his body as much as possible.
“Just know that I’m doing my part — I’m working out daily… praying and meditating …. Eating better – losing weight,” Jelly Roll said on X. “Making sure I bring the best version of me on my new album and this tour… this is what growth and gratitude look like in real time.”
The One Negative Side Effect Of Losing Weight
Jelly Roll feels better, and has more energy, with the weight off. Still, Jelly Roll reveals there is one negative side effect: sagging skin.
“I’m gonna have to get my skin cut…I’m gonna have to because it’s interfering with me and my daily function,” he reveals.
Why Jelly Roll Went Public With His Weight Loss
Jelly Roll has been very vocal about his weight loss journey, using his platform to inspire countless others to also become the best version of themselves as well.
“I did this publicly for a reason,” Jelly Roll says (via Prevention). “I wanna be honest about my struggles with it with people. I wore it for so long. I think that people that become as big as I became, when they lose the weight, they’re kind of ashamed. They’re so ashamed that they go hide and lose the weight, and then they come back out and they don’t really know how to interact with the world looking different or feeling different.”
