Jimmie Allen Speaks Out About Racism After Death of George Floyd: ‘We Need to Check Our Hearts’

Jimmie Allen is speaking out after the heartbreaking death of George Floyd. The singer, who has a 5-year-old son Aadyn, and a 3-month-old daughter, Naomi, shared a heartfelt statement on social media, urging fans to fight racism and prejudices.

“It’s our job as humans to point out the negative treatment of people,” Jimmie began. “It doesn’t matter if they look like us or not or if treatment of them directly affects us or not. If we see it and it doesn’t bother us, we need to check our hearts.”

“The continued non value of life towards black men in America concerns me,” he continued. “As a black man and a father raising a black boy I’m worried. The uncertainty of his safety turns my stomach. I challenge everyone to love each other and let our hearts speak louder than the injustice. Love so loud that it suffocates the hate.”

Numerous cities suffered massive destruction following peaceful protests over George’s death, like Nashville, where 30 buildings were damaged, including the historic courthouse and the Ryman Auditorium. Several artists, including Tim McGraw and John Rich, spoke out about the devastation.

“Nobody’s ever improved on the ideal that all are created equal and that we should love one another as we love ourselves….” Tim wrote.

“The worst part about the criminals who were looting/burning/defacing Nashville last night, is that it TOTALLY shifts focus to THEM instead of the murder of #GeorgeFloyd It dishonors the memory of Mr Floyd and only serves to make the divide in our country that much deeper.”
