Jon Pardi Celebrates 112 Days of Sobriety: ‘I Was So Unhappy With Myself’

Jon Pardi might be singing “Beer for Santa,” for the CMA Country Christmas TV special, but he won’t be imbibing with him. The father of one reveals he is celebrating 112 days of sobriety, after cutting out all drinking a few months ago.

“I was pre-diabetic and I was just like, I gotta stop,” Pardi reveals on Amazon Music’s Country Heat Weekly podcast (via Country Now). “But I will say I’m retired. Doesn’t mean I can’t come out of retirement, but for right now it’s been great.”

Although Pardi quit drinking mostly for his physical health, he is also grateful for what sobriety hs done for his appearance as well.

“[The weight] just fell off my face,” Pardi says. “I really was getting to the point where every picture, every video, I was so unhappy with myself and it was just like, where I was going, I needed to just take a break.”

The 38-year-old said he was, perhaps for the first time, pleased with his most recent photo shoot, thinkng, “Damn, I look good.”

Take that, Titos,” Pardi jokes. “So for anybody that’s thinking about it, if they want to lose weight and you do drink, let me tell you, it does help tremendously if you stop, but then you get the ice cream, like the sugar cravings. Let me tell you, I love me some ice cream.

“That’s why I’m like, ‘Well, I’m not drinking. I better get this Twix candy bar ice cream,'” he adds with a laugh.

Pardi received an early Christmas present earlier this year, when he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Pardi was inducted by Country Music Hall of Fame member, Garth Brooks.

“It’s full circle,” Pardi said during his induction. “My hero that I watched fly around in an arena is right behind me … It’s crazy that Garth is right here. I don’t even know what to say. I love the Opry. I love being a part of the family.”

Pardi’s Merry Christmas From Jon Pardi album is out now. He also has a hit single at radio, with Cowboys and Plowboys,” his collaboration with Luke Bryan, from his next album, out in 2024.

“The next year is all about new music. Awesome songs, awesome record, just something fresh for everybody,” Pardi hints. “I want to come out with this whole new thing. I just want people to be like, ‘Damn that’s good.’ … I can’t tell you what it’s gonna be, but my goal for ‘24 is to just be bigger than I thought I would be, bigger and better. And have glowing skin,”
