Kelly Clarkson to Release Christmas Duet With Brett Eldredge

Christmas just got a bit more festive! Kelly Clarkson announced she recorded a Christmas duet with Brett Eldredge, along with another holiday song, which she will release in the near future.

“I actually have a couple Christmas things dropping, that were very random,” Kelly revealed on the Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist podcast (via Country Now).. “A duet with Brett Eldredge, who I love, that I wrote, and a cover song. So it’s like an A/B side thing that’s coming out for Christmas.”

The American Idol alum is also working on a new album, but wanted to give something to her fans in the meantime.

“Fans are always asking, ‘Can you just drop anything?’ Everyone is sad. Everyone is feeling it. The world has gone to crap,” Kelly said, adding that her fans keep requesting that she “just release something.”

The new set of tunes will cover personal highs and lows as well, including her split from her husband, Brandon Blackstock, after seven years of marriage.

“This next record, this will probably be the most personal one I’ve ever released,” Kelly shared on the Today Show. “And the whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now or where it is now, and it’s been very therapeutic for me.”

One song on her next record includes the couple’s children, six-year-old River Rose, and 4-year-old Remy.

“There’s one that my kids sing in the car,” Kelly revealed. “I’m going through mixes, and I’m just, like, ‘This is weird.’ Like, it’s your relationship. I’ve never written about my life to where my kids are singing along.”

Kelly’s new album will be her ninth project, and her most vulnerable.

“This next record, this will probably be the most personal one I’ve ever released,” said the 38-year-old. “The whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship, to the end of what it is now.”
