Kenny Chesney Announces Sun Goes Down Tour With Zac Brown Band

Kenny Chesney is returning to stadiums next year, and he’s bringing along a few of his friends to join him on the road. The 55-year-old announces his 2024 Sun Goes Down Tour, kicking off on April 20 in Tampa, Florida. Chesney will be joined by Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker for the 18-city tour, which includes a stop at Nashville’s own Nissan Stadium, wrapping up on August 23 at Gilette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

“I wanted a name that suggested – obviously – when all the good stuff starts to happen,” Chesney explains. “The one thing I’ve learned about No Shoes Nation and these stadium shows is they start the good times early and they just keep it going. But we all know, when the sun goes down, that’s when people really get loose and enjoy themselves.”

The tour’s moniker comes from an early hit of Chesney’s, “When the Sun Goes Down,” a collaboration with Uncle Kracker that was released in 2004, and was the title track of Chesney’s eighth studio album.

“That was the thing about Uncle Kracker and my song,” Chesney explains. “It captured a vibe and a moment so perfectly. No matter how much fun you’re having all day long, ‘everything gets hotter when the sun goes down…’ I know from years of experience that’s true.

“So, I can’t wait to get back out there, stadium-sized ’cause there’s nothing like 60,000 members of No Shoes Nation singing these songs,” he adds. “It’s gonna be awesome.”

The news of the Sun Goes Down Tour comes after Chesney wrapped up his 2023  I Go Back Tour, which included Kelsea Ballerini as his opening act. Unlike the stadium tours that Chesney is known for, the previous tour took him to smaller, more intimate venues, allowing a more personal experience for him, and his fans.

“I remember coming up, the craziness of so many of those dates,” Chesney said when the I Go Back Tour was announced. “Markets where people were using chain-cutters to get onto the lawn because we were so sold out in the Carolinas… and that’s a kind of energy that should never be left behind.”
