Kenny Chesney is speaking out about the success of “Carry On,” which just became his 37th No. 1 hit, and his 62nd Top 10 single. The song, which is also his 100th charting single, is from his latest Silver Sands Marina album, out now.
“When they tell me this stuff, it’s a lot to take in,” Chesney says. “It gets harder the more you do this to find songs that stand out from what you’ve done, that say things you want to say – and you think other people will find themselves in, too. That’s really the point: the connection. Like my tours, I want this music to bring people together, to lift them up.”
When Chesney released Silver Sands Marina, he also released “Remember Me That Way” as his follow-up single to “Carry On.” “Remember Me That Way” is also part of Chesney’s new 11-track album, which he poured his heart and soul into creating. Chesney celebrated the release of Silver Sands Marina with a show at The Pinnacle in Nashville.
“Three years in the making,” Chesney says. “A lot of songs listened to, even recorded, to get to this moment, these stories and emotions, and I wanted to give it all directly to the people who’ve loved and lived this music with me. There is so much good happening; we should all experience it together. Man, did we! And it’s awesome to hear the reactions people are having.”

What Kenny Chesney Says About His ‘Silver Sands Marina’ Album
Silver Sands Marina comes 32 years after Chesney’s debut In My Wildest Dreams was released. Chesney is rightfully proud that Silver Sands Marina became the record he always wanted to make.
“Having had the time to cut so many really great songs, but also listen to them, think about how they fit together, the songs were also able to talk to each other,” Chesney says. “They showed me, Buddy, some of the people near me what they wanted to say in a larger way… And when ‘Silver Sands Marina’ captured that one perfect moment two share together with no distractions, everything fell into place.
“That’s the thing about music: the more you listen, the more it will tell you about life. Whether it’s how to get through it, laugh it off, make it more or recognize what’s so rare and special, it’s all there if you’ll slow down and listen. When we did, well, you can hear it in these 11 songs.”

“Remember Me That Way” was written by HARDY, Shane McAnally, and Zach Abend. The most-added at country radio, it’s also one of the 58-year-old’s favorite songs on his record.
“In my relationships over the years, it’s never ended great,” Chesney says on CBS Mornings. “It never ends great. But if you can get to a place — and sometimes, real forgiveness and perspective takes time. But if you can someday get to a place and look in the rearview mirror and find a little gratitude in something, that’s really good. ‘Remember Me That Way’ lives in the emotion of all of that. And that’s the thing about the record. There’s a lot of songs that have a lot of emotions in it, that make you feel really alive, and make you remember someone, or make you long for someone.”
